Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
+ 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
+ Experience with US GAAP in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
+ Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
+ Ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
+ Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
+ Excellent people management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
The Spend Controllership team's core purpose is to empower Alphabet leadership to make well-informed spending decisions by navigating financial complexities and ensuring accurate accounting at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$183,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:
+ Own and manage global accounting processes for the gTech and People Operations (POps) organizations, partnering across the organization with teams including sales/customer support Business teams, gTech Finance, POps Finance, Product Area Finance teams, business controller teams, and Corporate Accounting.
+ Ensure timely and accurate accounting for operating expenses, accruals, and product classification, and close and reporting on a monthly basis.
+ Manage risks, controls, and compliance for contracting, operating expenses and related transactions and leverage relationships and accounting and reporting knowledge to understand matters across the company that could affect operating expenses.
+ Anticipate, analyze and propose recommendations for process improvements, system enhancements, and automations across the purchasing landscape.
+ Develop and support accounting and reporting operationally with efficiency, controls, an eye for continuous improvement and attention to detail with an end-to-end view.
