Intern Data Scientist
Location
This position is onsite a minimum of three days per week at our corporate headquarters in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within commutable distance or willing to relocate (a relocation package is available for those who qualify).
The interview process for this position will consist of both a panel interview and a technical assessment.

General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Intern Data Scientist will support the organization’s data science capabilities. The incumbent will collaborate with the data science team and business stakeholders to establish requirements and data requests for analytics projects. They will work to understand the business needs of various departments and generate actionable insights using a range of analytical methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with a team to evaluate, select, build, train, and apply the most effective modeling approaches using data science theory.
+ Communicate data science outputs and support the development of models and solutions that provide insights for business interpretation and execution.
+ Support analytics initiatives from ideation through production and adoption, with an understanding of the analytics lifecycle and common pitfalls.
+ Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
+ Strong acumen in quantitative analytics and structured problem-solving.
+ Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
+ Foundational knowledge of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data engineering.
+ Basic understanding of project management and the ability to identify project/business requirements.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely.
+ Strong logical reasoning skills to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
Education
Currently enrolled and actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Hours and Travel
Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position and work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
