POSITION SUMMARY:

The NGL Accounting group is part of the R&M Operations Accounting department within the Controller’s organization. This group handles the accounting for purchases and sales of NGLs, as well as the associated inventory reconciliations. This position will work closely with traders and schedulers, yield accounting personnel and various other support organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Work with traders and schedulers to ensure all purchases and sales by various modes of transportation are recorded, matched and distributed.

+ Ensure timely payment of product purchases by investigating and resolving vendor invoice discrepancies.

+ Reconcile inventory balances at assigned locations, working closely with MPC and third-party business partners to investigate discrepancies.

+ Identifies efficiencies and recommends ways to improve processes and standards.

+ Collects, compiles, analyzes, and verifies financial and other data to ensure the integrity of accounting records.

+ Prepares analysis and schedules in support of financial statements.

+ Creates and records journal entries and other transactions, maintains general ledger, and reconciles accounts.

+ Ensures proper execution of controls and performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.

+ Displays ability to utilize systems/tools, which may include, but not limited to, Excel, SAP, Right Angle, BW, Quorum, etc.

+ May serve as a resource to less experienced accountants.

+ Supports accounting processes by addressing and assisting with fulfilling business requirements, process, or system enhancements, and/or accounting standards.

+ Ensures successful completion of internal and external audits.

+ May document, update, and maintain internal procedures or work on special projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

+ Minimum 2 years of accounting or related experience required.

+ Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial statements, reports, ledgers, and journals

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
