    Description

    Lee County Parks & Recreation is seeking a dedicated team member to oversee the planning and preparation of athletic fields, stadium grounds, and associated facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that these areas are ready for use by amateur and professional players and coaches during their workouts, games, and tournaments. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards for athletic environments.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    + Turf Management : Perform daily maintenance tasks related to turf care, ensuring optimal playing conditions for all amateur and professional sports events.

    + Infield Preparation : Prepare infield clay surfaces to meet the specific requirements of various sports events, ensuring safety and performance standards are upheld.

    + Athlete Support : Remain attentive to the needs of amateur athletes, as well as professional major and minor league players, coaches, and team officials, to facilitate a positive experience.

    + Team Collaboration : Work closely with temporary staff and contract laborers to coordinate and complete all assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.

    + Task Completion : Ensure that all grounds maintenance activities are executed to the highest standards, contributing to the overall success of sporting events.

     

    Education, Experience, Licensing

     

    + Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and one year athletic field maintenance, groundskeeping, general maintenance or closely related experience.

    + CPR and First Aid training is required within 6 months of hire.

    + Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

     

    Supplemental Information

     

    + Familiarity with turf maintenance and care practices.

    + Proficient in operating field equipment utilized for the maintenance and construction of athletic fields.

    + Understanding of occupational hazards and safety protocols.

    + Capability to lift heavy objects as required.

    + Skill in laying out athletic fields accurately.

    + This position primarily operates on a schedule from 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM ; however, workdays and hours may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
