Description
This position will initially follow a 2nd shift schedule due to the ongoing Lee County downtown facilities projects. While this schedule is expected to be temporary, it may extend beyond a year. Upon project completions, the schedule may shift back to standard daytime hours. Ideal candidates will be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working during non-traditional hours for the duration of said projects.
We are seeking a candidate who is flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working non-traditional hours during this project phase.
Duties and Responsibilities
Construction Oversight & Support
+ Perform regular construction site visits to monitor progress and compliance with plans and standards.
+ Witness and document major stages of construction and report any discrepancies.
+ Coordinate with project managers to support ongoing site needs and maintain daily activity logs.
Documentation & Reporting
+ Maintain accurate records of site activities, construction progress, and changes.
+ Support the review and tracking of project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and submittals.
+ Assist in updating and maintaining as-built drawings and construction logs.
Technical Review & Field Support
+ Assist in the review of construction documents for adherence to County standards.
+ Ensure current construction documents are followed during field work.
+ Gather and report field data as requested by project managers or supervisors.
Maintenance Support
+ Perform preventative maintenance inspections on existing infrastructure, such as parking systems.
+ Help identify and document repair needs or deficiencies during inspections.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
+ Experience: 2 years of relevant experience in construction, facilities, inspections, or a related field.
+ Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
+ Strong understanding of construction processes and documentation.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and related documents.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is a plus.
+ Excellent communication skills for interaction with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
+ Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Licensing and Certifications:
+ A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule:
+ Primarily 2nd Shift. This temporary schedule may extend beyond one year.
+ Schedule is based on the demands of ongoing Lee County downtown facilities projects and may extend beyond one year.
+ Upon project completion, the schedule may revert to a standard day shift (e.g., 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM).

+ Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:
All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed. This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.

Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.
