Client seeks a Director of Operations for an onsite role in San Diego, CA. The Director of Operations will manage all aspects of technical operations and delivery of services to program managers and customers of Piper. This includes labor, materials, cost control, facility asset and inventory management, engineering, and meeting with customers to ensure positive customer service expectations. Responsible for leading, directing, and delegating work, motivating performance, conflict resolution, attendance issues, and providing career guidance to direct reports. The Operations Director shall be responsible for the technical delivery (engineering, testing, deployment) of products and ongoing service operations management. The Director will manage a team of direct reports and work with his/her team to establish standards of excellence in operational efficiencies while meeting and exceeding customer requirements, service KPIs, and financial goals.
The Director of Operations will own the development and execution of a Continuous Improvement strategy for Piper’s Technical Operations and Services. This key role on the leadership team will be responsible for building and deploying Engineering, Operations, and Services products based on best practices in collaboration with technical engineers and program managers. The primary objective is to improve the efficiency of the operations and service functions to drive Quality, Cost, and Performance metrics.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
+ Manage, lead, and direct all operations for the facility, including asset and inventory control, shipping and receiving, engineering resources, budget, and expenses.
+ Coordinate, guide, and manage engineering; work to manage the workload with a team of project and system engineers, program managers, and engineering leads.
+ Manage the development of program and company-wide schedules with resource loading for active and future projects;
+ Monitor program schedules managed by engineers and proactively mitigate delays.
+ Ensures that the programs are implemented on time, within budget, with desired results, minimizing changes.
+ Effectively communicate development strategy schedules to all levels of the organization to get buy-in and institutionalize quality practices.
+ Facilitate an open environment that promotes teamwork and is a catalyst for removing organizational barriers.
+ Leads cross-functional teams for high-priority, complex programs to meet strategic and program targets.
+ Help cross-functional teams develop clear roles and responsibilities to enable collaboration and accountability.
+ Emphasize quality and maintain/update ISO-9001 certification
+ Develop and implement a root-cause Investigation program; instill a process to conduct root-cause investigation and follow-up action reviews for critical issues.
+ Employee development – recruiting, training, career planning, and performance management.
+ Develop customer, supplier, and vendor relationships.
+ Implement and attend design review and approval meetings.
+ Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
+ A minimum of 5+ years in a management role at a technical company
+ Must have two (2) years of general facility/office management experience.
+ 4-year degree in an engineering discipline; an MBA would be a plus.
+ 3+ years of experience working with manufacturers' reps for electronic and mechanical components.
+ 3+ years of experience working with contract and subcontractors to manufacture electronic products.
+ Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
+ Be organized and a good planner.
+ The ability to build and leverage relationships and identify key decision-makers.
+ Proven technical, business acumen, and budgetary management experience.
+ Effective communication skills
+ Experience in implementing Quality Standards (ISO-9001) and continuous improvement strategy.
+ Experienced in negotiation/influencing/persuasion.
+ Leadership-driven problem-solving skills with proven ability to anticipate issues and recommend effective solutions.
+ High cultural awareness and proven ability to work and collaborate with various cultures.
+ Production of accurate, complete, and concise documentation of results
+ Neutral, non-biased, analytical, and strategic thinking
+ Presentation skills
+ Must have a positive attitude and be a self-starter
+ Must have the ability to set and meet goals.

Position Details:
+ This is an onsite role in San Diego, CA.
+ This position will report primarily to a senior executive and interact with multiple managers across technical delivery and services teams. The position will manage a team of direct reports consisting of leads and supervisors to plan, coordinate, hire, implement, test, and deliver a technological solution or manage ongoing service operations.
+ The employee could be asked occasionally to visit customer locations for technical meetings and reviews.
Position Details:
+ Pay Rate / Range: $86.00-96.00
