    Duties and Responsibilities

    Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time laboratory technician with experience in evolutionary genetics. This position involves culturing beneficial microbes from plant hosts and conducting bioinformatic analysis of bacterial population genetics. The position is in the lab of Dr. Michael Grillo which studies the evolutionary genetics of plant-microbe interactions.     Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

     

    Education Required:Masters or Bachelors Degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, or a related field.

     

    Experience Required: At least 1 year of experience during school or after school with, bacteria culturing from host plants, DNA sequencing, genome assembly, and microbial phylogenetics and/or population genetics.

    Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with an MS degree in Bioinformatics are preferred as well as applicants with experience growing native legumes and culturing beneficial soil microbial symbionts.

    Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

    Education Required. Masters or Bachelors Degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, or a related field.

     

    Computer Skills

     

    Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, R, pyhton, and general experience with command line coding with bioinformatics software and approaches.
