    Summary:

    The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and daily management of the Albuquerque Curia network infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant operations that support regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing activities. The position plays a critical role in maintaining system availability, data integrity, and information security in alignment with regulatory requirements such as FDA, DEA, Health Canada, and EU guidelines. Additionally, this role provides advanced troubleshooting, technical expertise, and mentorship to junior engineers and IT support staff. Collaboration with cross-functional IT groups, Quality, and business units is required to ensure network services meet operational needs while supporting scalability, standardization, and business continuity.

     

    The Senior Network Engineer is expected to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with deep knowledge of network administration, architecture, and cybersecurity. The position also champions continuous improvement initiatives, promotes compliance with GMP and data protection standards, and drives the adoption of best practices across the organization

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Network and Infrastructure Management:

    + Design, implement, and maintain network, voice and infrastructure systems, including LAN, WAN, WiFi, PBX, and data center infrastructure.

    + Oversee daily operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

    + Provide expert level troubleshooting skills across network and infrastructure systems, aligning with business objectives.

    + Perform hardware, operating system, security, and application updates/patches, for network and system components as well as operating system hardening.

    + Plan and implement capacity upgrades and expansions.

    + Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

    + Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices

    + Technical Operations

    + Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues, minimizing downtime and impact to business operations.

    + Manage vendor relationships, ensuring contracts, support, and services meet business needs.

    + Participate in an on-call rotation schedule and plan and manage afterhours infrastructure interventions. setup/assist with IT hardware deployment/troubleshooting for other teams (network/storage equipment)

    + Project Management

    + Design and lead network and infrastructure projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.

    + Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring projects meet business objectives and are delivered on time.

    + Collaboration and Communication

    + Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal Technology and Business stakeholders.

    + Coordinate with IT teams on platform implementation or changes that impact IT services or end-users.

    + Provide regular reports on system performance, capacity, and security, and design and deliver formal and informal presentations on technical topics.

    + Financial Management

    + Oversee infrastructure operational budget, ensuring projects stay within capital budget.

    + Provide insight into needs to meet current strategy for budget planning purposes.

    + Continuous Improvement Planning

    + Drive continuous improvement and IT best practices into all areas of process, metrics, and performance within the infrastructure team.

    + Research and review new and emerging technologies that could be implemented within infrastructure, developing ROI and implementation plans.

    + Read/interpret SOPs to ensure compliance

    + Maintain up to date trainings

    + Other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

    + Minimum 5 years of experience in network and infrastructure management

    + Industry recognized certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft, AWS, are highly desirable

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This role does not have supervisory responsibilities, yet it may involve mentoring, guiding, and advising.

    Language Skills:

    The ideal candidate should have the ability to read and interpret various documents, such as safety instructions, standard operating procedures, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Additionally, they should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective presentation skills.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Proficient in executing arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various units of measurement, employing whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages. Candidates must possess a strong grasp of algebraic and geometric principles.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills:

    The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation and proven capability in effectively utilizing diverse software tools to streamline the organization's daily functions. Essential skills encompass adeptness in manufacturing and internet software, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    + Strong technical knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), network devices ( switches C9300, firewalls Cisco FTD)

    + Network access Control – Cisco ISE

    + Knowledge of compute, storage, backup, virtualization, Active Directory, and remote access

    + Experience with Voice services, PBX, and VOIP technologies, and knowledge of voice protocols such as SIP, H.323… and familiarity with Microsoft teams.

    + Experience with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Java, or JavaScript)

    + Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Identity Access Management

    + Familiarity with IT security and regulatory policies

    + Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot server infrastructure devices.

    + Ability to create accurate topology diagrams and documentation.

    + Change Control / GMP experience

    Physical Demands:

    The essential physical demands will vary for each Curia position.

     

    All positions may require regular or occasional lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds, frequently; up to 25 pounds occasionally; and up to 50 pounds infrequently. Additionally, all positions entail regular sitting, standing and reaching, with some roles requiring prolonged periods of time for each activity. Visual acuity, both close and distant, along with depth perception is necessary in each role, with or without corrective lenses. Please note that employees are prohibited from wearing contact lenses in work areas with exposure to cleaning agents. Hand and finger dexterity are integral to all positions, with specific activities varying from typing to manipulating maintenance tools or operating keypads, switches, and buttons. Occasional stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, crawling and balancing are also part of each position’s physical requirements. Certain roles may involve climbing and working at elevated heights as well.

    The working environments will vary for each Curia position. The employee may be required to work in an office, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.

     

    The office environment is designed for comfort and productivity, with room temperature settings maintained for optimal working conditions. It is common to hear conversational noise in the background.

     

    The pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is sterile. Therefore, aseptic gowning is required. Personal protective equipment (nitrile gloves, clean room socks, face-shields, safety glasses, aprons, steel-toed shoes and powered air purifying respirators) is necessary, depending upon the task at hand. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, confined areas, and refrigerator or freezer temperatures when working in a sterile environment.

     

    The warehouse environment is typically set at a controlled temperature but the employee may be exposed to refrigerator or freezer temperatures when retrieving materials.

     

    Some positions may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated heights, airborne particles, electrical activities and vibration. In addition, some positions may work with or be exposed to, compressed gases and must wear ear protection.

     

    All environments may be subject to working with or being exposed to cleaning agents.
