    About the Job

     

    The purpose of this position is to execute Mississippi Lime Company’s (MLC) safety systems and culture. The Regional Safety Manager serves as the subject matter expert for all health and safety related issues at MLC’s sites in their region. Understand and assist in the development, execution, and measurement of safety goals, metrics and KPI’s. Work with and assist other members of the safety & health department, as needed.

     

    + Responsible for all aspects of safety for MLC Trucking and MLC personnel, process, transportation, contractor/construction, and security activities. Recommend measures to protect workers from potential work hazards.

    + Leadership of Safety Management Systems implementation. Development of defenses for high priority risks, risk ranking of major tasks (aspects and impacts). Investigate all injury/illness and non-injury incidents to determine root causes and follow up as necessary. Assist with the Worker’s Compensation process as necessary involving providing medical care and documentation as needed.

    + Develop and create safety policies, procedures, and standards as well as conduct or coordinate training. Implement and administer safety audit protocol. Follow up and close any findings or action items. Reliably maintain core processes through the broad engagement of the workforce in safety management. Update and create new hire onboarding and training processes. Assist in the training of new hires and distribution of appropriate PPE

    + Leadership of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) across all facilities and employee engagement for safety improvement. Through Learning Teams, execute outstanding response and corrections to significant deviations/errors and preventive actions to reduce the likelihood and/or impact of future incidents. Develop and implement annual safety improvement plans. Facilitate HOP training to the organization. Compile, analyze, and interpret safety statistical data related to audits and occupational incidents.

    + Collaborate with MLC Safety and other MLC/ MLC Trucking leaders in the relentless pursuit of performance excellence in accordance with MLC Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

    + Provide guidance and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT (focus on FMCSA).

    + Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities, as needed.

    Required Qualifications

    + Education: Required BS in Occupational Health & Safety or proven responsibility of managing the safety process at multiple locations. Safety certification a plus.

    + Experience: Required 5-7 years Occupational Safety in Transportation /Logistics, mining, or in Chemical Manufacturing. Multi-location responsibility. Fall Protection, Training, Safety Meetings, Auditing/Inspections, Pressurized systems. Mine Safety / MSHA experience preferred. MSHA Training Instructor Certification (IS, IU) a plus.

    + Certifications: Current OSHA 501 certified preferred. Current Smith System Driver Trainer preferred. Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

    + Skills: Attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, web-based safety data systems like KPA. Practical proficiency in Industrial Hygiene sampling and monitoring.

    + Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication with personnel at all levels of the organization. Ability to multitask by being able to balance and prioritize multiple projects at any given time

    + Travel: Travel to other MLC locations at 35-55%.
