    Position Summary

    University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

    The Senior Director of Development (SDoD) at NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service will develop and execute successful fundraising strategies for a portfolio of high-net-worth prospects with the capacity to make $1M+ gifts. Secure 6–8 figure gifts annually while managing a balanced portfolio dedicated to qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Manage and maintain a discovery prospect pool with an emphasis on qualification that grows into a strong portfolio of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship opportunities. A minimum of 100 engagements and/or meetings (in-person or virtual) is expected each year. Occasional travel will be required, as University policy allows, to strengthen relationships and advance philanthropy.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's Degree or completion of a fundraising certificate programRequired Experience:7+ years experience in nonprofit philanthropy and development as well as a track record of successfully soliciting 6-figure and 7-figure gifts, or combination of experience and education

     

    Experience managing volunteer groupsRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organization and verbal and written communication skills

     

    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively multi-task large scale projects while fostering supportive and collaborative relationships with colleagues

     

    Ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of individuals

     

    Experience with nonprofit fundraising and philanthropy

     

    Ability to travel both domestically and internationallyPreferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of Blackbaud/Sunguard database systems preferred, or knowledge of fundraising databases

     

    Additional Information

     

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $155,000.00 to USD $195,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
