Job Description
The Computer Technician I provides technical assistance via Help Desk phone support and in-person to students, faculty and staff for HCC computer work stations, printers, audio-visual technology, and networked computer applications. Duties include, but are not limited to, identifying technical issues and providing customer service and support; explaining processes and solutions to end users and assisting with implementing technical applications to their work environments; installing, configuring, and testing technology equipment; maintaining current knowledge of relevant hardware and software systems; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position
Required Education
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by college computer courses
Required Experience
Minimum of 1 year of work related experience, including hardware and software installation and customer service experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
+ Proficiency in a Windows computer environment, as well Microsoft Office or latest version.
+ Working knowledge of DOS line commands, and Ethernet networks;
+ Familiar with MAC OS support
+ Ability to maintain and repair computer equipment, systems, and peripherals as assigned.
+ Ability to work independently on tasks and carry through to completion.
+ Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately
