    The Regulation, Evaluation, and Governance Lab (RegLab) at Stanford University is hiring a full-time Finance Manager to join our team!

     

    **About Us:** Stanford RegLabis an impact lab that partners with government and nonprofits to use data science and AI to modernize the public sector. We are aninterdisciplinary team of lawyers, data scientists, social scientists, and engineers whoare passionate about building high impact demonstration projects for the future of governance. Some of our partners have included the IRS, EPA, US DOL, California, Maryland, San Francisco, and San Diego.

     

    RegLab has grown in the last few years with increasingly complex funding and budgeting needs. As the Finance Manager, you will report to the Executive Director and lead the budget and forecasting function at the lab, as well as related grant submission and reporting activities. You will serve as the key contact/subject matter expert in financial and development activities. This is a particularly good role for someone who is organized, highly detail-oriented, and excited by the mission of the lab.

    You will:

    + Perform and design adhoc analyses of large complex data sets: reconcile complex accounts. Identify and resolve complex issues which may span multiple areas. The Reglab has over 25 PTAs (financial accounts) that require active management.

    + Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision making; develop conclusions, and present high level summary of recommendations. May develop annual budget for individual department/unit. Provide recommendations to the leadership team on critical operations questions.

    + Conduct analysis and resolution, and recognize exceptions. Participate in developing solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes; maintain broader organizational perspective in decision making.

    + Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties. Main point of contact for OSR and the University’s post-award teams to ensure grants are being properly and fully spent. Provide support for grant submission and grant reporting process.

    + Participate as a member of a project team; support new initiatives. Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes.Lead strategy and change management activities for RegLab’s finance and fundraising functions, involving Research Managers and Directors in the process.

    + Contribute to unit and organization strategy; assist in the development of change management plans and materials as needed.

    + Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.

    + Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

    Education & Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems; internet and computer literacy.

    + Knowledge of Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples(GAAP).

    + Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.

    + Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team.

    _The expected pay range for this position is_ **_$92,251 - $129,230_** _per annum._
