This position exists to perform the supervising of the staff in Superfund Remedial Unit 2 in the Remediation Division. This position will be responsible for overseeing all activities conducted by the staff as well as managing all administrative and personnel issues associated with the unit’s functioning. Responsibilities in this position may include:
+ Fiscal and budgetary operations of the following program areas: Superfund Remedial and RCRA Corrective Action.
+ Manage daily operations of the unit to execute assigned duties.
+ Coordinating unit operations of the above program areas with the Superfund Site Assessment Section, U.S.EPA, MN Dept, of Health, MN Department of Revenue, and other key stakeholders.
+ Measurement and reporting of the above listed program areas.
+ Providing legislative support to the Remediation Division leadership and MPCA legislative team.
+ Managing the operations of specialized functional areas within Superfund, e.g. St. Louis River AOC Remediation team, state oversight of federal superfund sites, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
1) One year of supervisory experience in environmental protection/pollution control,
OR
2) Two years of advanced professional experience in environmental protection/pollution control. Examples for internal candidates – ( Environmental Specialist 4, Planner Principal, Hydrologist 2, Engineer 2 Graduate, Research Scientist 2, or related classes).
OR
3) Three years of environmental experience performing work equivalent to an Environmental Specialist 3 level or senior level work directing, designing AND developing criteria for permits, enforcement, negotiation, or environmental remediation.
OR
4) Equivalent combination of the above.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas including F-1 STEM OPT extensions.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulatory frameworks and their applicability to environmental remediation.
Knowledge of the structure, policies and procedures of local, state, and federal government.
Accomplished project management skills to guide and direct complex projects while supporting staff and problem solving to determine appropriate actions.
Accomplished leadership and management skills to effectively coach, train, and lead peers in the use of problem solving and project management.
Communication/writing skills sufficient to clearly communicate in a manner appropriated for the intended audience.
Knowledge and understanding of business system operations, database functionality, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements
A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check.
Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
