**What you’ll do:** You’ll report administratively to the health services administrator and be responsible for planning and implementing professional mental health services and psychological programs of a non-medical nature. The position coordinates and directs the activities of personnel engaged in providing psychological services to residents in compliance with MTC Medical and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Develop and implement treatment and therapeutic programs for assigned clients.
2. Assume independent clinical responsibility for all clients including the application of crisis intervention techniques to include suicide prevention, recognizing abnormal behavior and taking appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
3. Conduct diagnosis and evaluation tests for clients to determine needs, establish goals and develop plans; make referrals to contract professionals for assessment and treatment of clients.
4. Provide direct casework services and individual and group counseling to clients.
5. Prepare progress reports; provide recommendations regarding treatment plans; make case presentations; and assist administrative and medical staff in development of statistical reports on assigned clients.
6. Maintain and monitor confidentiality of clients and their files; audit files to determine that all services provided are documented; review status of clients to determine that all treatment and therapeutic programs are completed.
7. Screen requests for non-medical records and appropriately approve or disapprove responses following policy and procedures.
8. Attend scheduled staff meetings; promote communication and the proper flow of relevant information between administration, staff and clients.
9. Attend seminars, workshops, conferences as required.
10. Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification; perform CPR in emergencies.
11. Serve in rotation with other mental health providers to provide after-hours and weekend client care, if required, to include accepting on-call rotation.
12. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
13. Maintain accountability of clients and property; adhere to safety practices.
14. Support and assist health services team, at all levels, in delivery of quality patient services and development of facility goals and policies related to quality assurance and mental health services.
15. Possess extensive knowledge of the provision of client health services
16. Practice and promote patient advocacy; assist with the maintenance of ethical practice.
17. Develop, promote, and implement quality assurance indicators, based on analysis of incident reports/grievances, requirements and contract, jurisdictional policies and procedures, and clinical practice guidelines.
18. Regular and predictable onsite attendance is required.
19. Participate in and promote quality improvement activities, to include active participation in the quality improvement committee.
20. Work extended hours in extraordinary situations.
21. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
**Minimum:** Current license in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Advance Practice Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW-AP), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Seven (7) years of clinical experience and a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience required.
**Preferred:** Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, mental health, counseling or related field, a license or certification as required by the state of Texas, five years of clinical experience required and minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience.
**Additional requirements:** Current CPR certification required. Computer skills and evaluative, counseling skills are also required for this position. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
