    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Director, Events, Social Responsibility, and Procurement will provide leadership, strategic guidance, and operational oversight for the organization’s events, meetings, sponsorship activations, enterprise-wide procurement activities, and social responsibility initiatives. This role serves as the primary lead for major organizational events and high-profile public health conference participation, while also ensuring procurement practices across the organization are strategic, cost-effective, and aligned with compliance standards. Working closely with the SVP, this position will manage cross-functional collaboration, oversee procurement and vendor relationships, and guide staff to produce impactful, mission-aligned experiences and outcomes. This role also provides strategic guidance and mentorship to the events team to foster professional growth and development.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES):

    Strategic Planning & Leadership

    + Partner with the SVP to develop and implement the annual events and sponsorship activation strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand identity.*

    + Provide leadership and oversight to the events team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.*

    + Serve as the point of contact for senior leaders regarding event-related priorities, providing guidance and recommendations for achieving maximum impact.

    + Identify and leverage opportunities for strategic partnerships and vendor relationships to enhance value and efficiency.

    + Analyze performance metrics for events and procurement and provide strategic recommendations for continuous improvement.*

    + Lead cross-functional teams to drive innovation and creativity in event planning and execution.*

    + Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of event management, procurement, and social responsibility.

    Meetings & Events Management

    + Provide strategic oversight for all major organizational meetings, conferences, and special events, ensuring seamless operations from concept through evaluation.*

    + Oversee venue selection, contract negotiation, budget development, and on-site management for large-scale and complex events.

    + Ensure event strategies incorporate inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability best practices.

    Sponsorships & Conference Participation

    + Manage execution of organizational sponsorships, including negotiation of benefits, coordination with internal teams, and oversight of deliverables to maximize visibility and value.

    + Lead the strategic approach to Truth Initiative’s presence at national and regional public health conferences, including exhibits, speaker engagements, and ancillary activities.*

    + Collaborate with marketing and communications to ensure consistent messaging and brand presence across all activations.

    Social Responsibility & Organizational Culture

    + Oversee the implementation of the organization’s social responsibility and employee volunteer programs.

    + Partner with internal stakeholders to design and deliver culture-building activities that promote employee engagement and morale.*

    Organizational Procurement, Vendor & Budget Oversight

    + Lead procurement processes across the organization, including issuing RFPs, evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations.

    + Develop and oversee organizational procurement policies, ensuring fairness, transparency, and alignment with financial and operational goals.

    + Partner with Finance and Legal to align procurement activities with risk management, budgetary, and compliance requirements.

    + Manage relationships with vendors across multiple categories (events, technology, professional services, facilities, etc.), ensuring cost efficiency, quality service, and accountability.

    + Develop, monitor, and reconcile organizational budgets related to procurement, events, and sponsorships, maintaining fiscal responsibility and accurate reporting.

    Continuous Improvement & Reporting

    + Implement post-event evaluation processes to assess effectiveness, identify improvements, and inform future planning.*

    + Prepare and present regular updates to leadership on event outcomes, sponsorship ROI, procurement performance, and program progress.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

    + 8–10 years of progressive experience in event planning, sponsorship management, procurement, or related field, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.

    + Demonstrated success leading high-profile events and complex multi-stakeholder projects.

    + Proven ability to negotiate contracts, manage budgets, and cultivate productive vendor partnerships.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

    + Strategic thinker with a detail-oriented approach and a commitment to operational excellence.

    + Ability to travel 15–25% annually, including occasional weekends.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    This position is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two telework days.

    COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

    The salary range for this role is starting at $120,000-$130,000 on a national basis. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, location, and certifications, consistent with applicable law. Salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes performance bonus for eligible roles, and competitive benefits.
