    This position is based preferably in the West in proximity to an airport. Hybrid work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in hybrid work are encouraged to apply.

    Purpose & Scope:

    This role is responsible for leading a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) who will engage with retina specialists and their staff to educate on company programs that support patient access and provider reimbursement. Accountable for leading a team that will develop/strengthen collaborative relationships with internal partners (including Sales and Market Access teams) and external customers including (Eye Care Professionals (ECPs), key administrative staff, and practices administrators) to ensure Astellas Pharma Support Solutions’ (Izervay My Way) range of programs and offerings are appropriately utilized to support patients prescribed Astellas products. They will also need to motivate, direct, and lead the team to be strong collaborators with the goal of creating a best-in-class customer experience.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage at least five field-based Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) who are focused on engaging with retina specialists and their staff to educate on company programs that support patient access and provider reimbursement.

    + Foster productive and open communication within team and sets expectation and high standards of performance per team member:

    + Assess and understand customer needs to determine the optimal approach to support patient access to prescribed Astellas product(s).

    + Develop relationships with office staff at key accounts in collaboration with field sales

    + Interact directly with customers to improve patient access and affordability and achieve defined customer engagement metrics

    + Raise awareness of Astellas Pharma Support Solutions/Izervay My Way and effectively communicate value proposition at appropriate levels within accounts.

    + Deliver customer education related to key access and reimbursement topics.

    + Create and regularly update Account Business Plans

    + Lead team and effectively coach and mentor ARMs on effective collaboration and communication techniques, identifying and maximizing talents and providing growth opportunities, rewards, recognition and development where appropriate.

    + Stay abreast of the evolving legal, regulatory and compliance environment, ensure team is aware of related guidelines and conducts business in accordance with Astellas Legal/Compliance guidance and policies.

    + Raise awareness of customer issues and imperatives to leadership and effectively communicate solutions that includes a comprehensive set of key messages around services, programs and offerings to address challenges/opportunities.

    + Direct and align efforts related to corporate strategic plan to ensure Astellas’ long-term goals are achieved in responsible geography.

    + Align with Field Sales to identify accounts in need of access and reimbursement education and support.

    + Advance strategic customer relationships towards true partnership at key accounts through development of Senior/Executive level customer relationships

    + Experience engaging and presenting to Senior and C-level customers.

    + Continuously analyze competitive landscape and external environment impacting assigned geographies and key accounts to determine trends and provide customer feedback to PAAS and Max leadership.

    + Effectively allocate resources, recruit, hire, and train Access & Reimbursement Managers as needed.

    Qualifications Required:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in science or business-related discipline; MBA preferred.

    + Minimum of 10+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry

    + Minimum of two years in Sales, Account Management, or Field Reimbursement.

    + Extensive experience with coverage, coding and reimbursement process for public and private payers, their respective systems, processes, and key contacts involved in claims processing and adjudication.

    + Proven experience in working within and understanding the practice/reimbursement management environment in both offices and healthcare systems.

    + Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills

    + Strong Executive presence and experience engaging and presenting to Senior and C-level customers.

    + Experience navigating and partnering with leadership of complex organized customers (e.g. Private Equity Groups, integrated accounts).

    + Understanding of the complexities of buy and bill reimbursement and role model compliant and appropriate customer support through the process.

    + Experience building, leading, motivating, teams and managing team and individual performance.

    + Broad range of leadership competencies and ability to work in cross-functional role.

    + Role model for our leadership commitments and able to foster a high-performance culture.

    Preferred Skills:

    + Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of the retina community

    + Buy-and-bill experience

    Working Environment:

    + This position is field based within the assigned geographical region.

    + Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time including overnight travel.

     

    Compensation Range:$170,000 - $243,000 (NOTE: Final Salary could be more or less, based on experience.)

     

    Flexible grade level based on candidate background and skillset.
