    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Supervisor AMS & Meter Shop

     

    Salary Grade: G05

     

    Minimum Midpoint Maximum

     

    $90,316 - $121,926 - $153,536

    SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the overall direction and/or supervision of a section or functional unit involved in the design and construction of Advance Metering System (AMS) meter installation, distribution and transmission automation, SCADA communications, meter shop operation and maintenance activities. Provides the meter department with innovative solutions for metering issues.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides technical support of AMS installation and maintenance and other smart grid projects

     

    Maintains current technical aspects of smart metering, distribution and transmission automation

     

    Attends training seminars and review new products

     

    Assists with the troubleshooting of AMS issues as they arise

     

    Supervises, trains, and directs technical personnel and provides administrative support to management

     

    Responsible for the execution of goals, programs, and projects within an engineering functional unit or section

     

    Represents TNMP at ERCOT and other meetings

     

    Assists with establishing and reviews meter standards for the Company, including EPS meter installation

     

    Works on other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelors degree in a related field with five to seven years electric power industry experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

     

    Experience in troubleshooting electrical equipment and technical knowledge in metering and meter installations.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervises meter shop personnel. Hires, trains, evaluates, rewards, and terminates employees. Designs, organizes, prioritizes, schedules, and leads work assignments. Fosters good working relationships with various groups. Appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints, and resolves problems.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

     

    Ability to respond effectively to highly sensitive inquiries or complaints

     

    Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations

     

    Ability to effectively listen and get clarification to respond to a wide-range of questions

     

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to solve complex math problems involving power flow and vector relationships in metering applications

     

    Ability to apply the concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

     

    Ability to apply mathematical operations to frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

     

    Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    Ability to use a personal computer to assist in analyzing metering issues along with electronic paper work required by ERCOT

    ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

    Ability to identify and define problems and process breakdowns. Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid and concrete conclusions that can be acted upon. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written and oral instructions. Ability to apply creativity to problem solving and utilize analytic skills and modeling capabilities to provide ongoing insight into the business and to make recommendations and decisions. Ability to work with others to derive solutions to problems presented during projects.

    DECISION MAKING:

    Applicant will have to decide on location of meter applications, interpreting ERCOT and other market rules and applying them in meter installations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    May be exposed to voltages up to 600 volts. The employee may be required to push and/or pull objects; climb, balance, bend and twist; stoop, kneel crouch and crawl; reach for and handle objects; and talk and listen for long periods of time. May occasionally lift and/or move loads up to 50 pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Field environment.

     

    Travel required.
