    Range 25 ($5,522.88- $7,252.76) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule (https://www.sdccd.edu/docs/HumanResources/employee%20relations/Salary%20Schedules/Classified%20Salary%20Schedule%202024.pdf) . New employees will begin on Step E ($5,522.88). Step placement is non-negotiable. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the Classified Professionals Bargaining Unit (https://www.sdccd.edu/docs/HumanResources/employee%20relations/Collective%20Bargaining%20Agreements/AFT-Guild%20Local%201931%20-%20Classified%20Staff%20w%20signatures.pdf) . This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE ) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment.     The Position

    Applications are currently being accepted for Accessibility Specialist position in the disAbility Support Programs & Services department, located at the San Diego City College campus. Hours may vary; Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm. The selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department’s needs.

     

    Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option.

    Desired Qualifications

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Coordinate the procurement, production, and remediation of instructional materials in alternate formats in collaboration with faculty.

    + Serve as primary contact and support assistive computer labs, assess student tech skills, and provide hands-on assistance.

    + Develop and deliver training for students, faculty, and staff on accessibility, universal design, and assistive technologies.

    + Provide technical consultation on hardware/software accessibility issues and support long-term accessible tech planning.

    + Provide training and work direction to part-time lab staff and maintain an inventory of accessible technology; advise on purchases and upgrades.

    + Ensure accessibility compliance for DSPS digital content, including websites and online communications.

    + Collaborate with IT and serve on technology committees to advocate for inclusive digital practices and guide campus-wide accessibility planning.

    + Monitor evolving laws, tools, and technologies related to accessibility; recommend improvements and alternatives.

    + Contribute to district-wide efforts to promote inclusive instructional technology.

    + Manage multiple projects, meet timelines, and perform related duties as assigned

    Desired Qualifications and Skills:

    + Knowledge of accessibility laws and guidelines (e.g., ADA , Section 504/508, WCAG 2.1) and assistive technologies.

    + Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning ( UDL ), instructional design, and accessibility best practices.

    + Experience with California Community College operations and procedures.

    + Strong technical skills with computers, adaptive software/hardware, and relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Suite)

    + Effective oral and written communication; strong presentation and training skills.

    + Ability to resolve complex accessibility issues across people, systems, and technologies.

    + Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to serve diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities.

    + Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.

    Training and Experience:

    + Any combination equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and two (2) years of experience related to assistive and adaptive computer technology; OR

    + An associate degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience related to adaptive computer technology.

    Foreign Degree:

    Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services ( NACES ) (http://www.naces.org/members.html) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC .( ACEI ) (https://www.acei-global.org/evaluation-services/) . A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your online application.

    Conditions of Employment:

    SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT :

    + Submit “official” college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);

    + Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);

    + Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the District’s expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);

    + Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form; AND ,

    + Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices.

    EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT
