What You'll Do

As a UPMC Paramedic, you'll be a vital part of our emergency response team, delivering high-quality care in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. Your responsibilities will include:

+ Administering basic and advanced life support in diverse settings

+ Communicating with Medical Command and healthcare teams

+ Performing emergency diagnostics and treatments

+ Educating student paramedics and engaging in community outreach

+ Maintaining equipment and vehicles for readiness

+ Documenting patient care and ensuring confidentiality

+ Promoting safety and wellness for patients and team members

• Qualifications

Education & Experience:

+ High school diploma or equivalent required

+ At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level) is preferred

+ Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds

+ Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

+ Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed

+ Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director

+ Completion of UPMC's orientation program, including classroom training

+ Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment

• Licenses & Certifications (Required):

+ Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania

+ Valid Driver's License

+ Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD)

+ EMSVO Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification

Clearances (Required with Renewal):

+ Act 31 - Child Abuse Reporting

+ Act 33 - PA Child Abuse History Clearance

+ Act 34 - PA Criminal Background Check

+ Act 73 - FBI Fingerprint Clearance
