Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Development Manager, Parents Program, acts as a key team member to the Parents Program, Student Life and Academic Excellence Teams, consisting of a Senior Director of Advancement, Parents Program, Executive Director of Advancement for Student Life and Academic Excellence. The Development Manager collaborates closely with the Dean of Students, AVP for University Student Life, and Academic Excellence campus partners.
This position requires the ability to demonstrate initiative, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and exercise independent judgment to expertly execute events and manage prospective donor relationships. The incumbent is expected to develop and maintain a portfolio of major and annual gift prospects and serve as the primary volunteer manager for Parents Council.
This role will manage the annual Parents Council program and will facilitate volunteer meetings with university leadership, annual suite of engagement events, and manage volunteer and donor engagement in partnership with admissions, the career center, and parent volunteers.
Must have good judgment, be able to problem solve, embrace the team concept, have excellent customer relations skills and be able to adjust to changing priorities and challenges in a busy environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Donor Prospect Portfolio Management
+ Effectively manages a portfolio of 75-100 domestic major gift, George Eastman Circle, and leadership annual giving prospects with primary responsibility in the Mid-Atlantic, Western New York, and Rochester Regions.
+ Direct fundraising responsibilities entail 100 in-person or virtual visits, 250 high-quality contacts, 5 major gift solicitations and 10 GEC gifts closed per year.
+ This includes a sufficient schedule of personal visits and travel to ensure engagement of these prospects.
+ Achieves annual metrics of in-person or virtual visits, high-quality contacts, qualification, and dollars raised.
+ Develops relationships using best practice moves management and donor-centric strategies, that motivate parents to support the University of Rochester.
+ Collaborates with University Advancement gift officers, appropriate deans, and senior management for student life and academic excellence.
+ Evaluates philanthropic capacity of all new parent prospects and crafts fundraising strategies to raise sights and involvement of donors at all levels during the Campaign.
Data management
+ Data management and analysis for the Parents Program, Parents Leadership Committee, Parents Council, athletics and the programs affiliated with Student Life and Academic Excellence.
+ Assist in the data load process and act as the point person between Prospect Research and the Parents Program during the New admissions cycle each year.
+ Compiles information for a variety of reports from university alumni and parent gift records as well as from other sources for specific projects including cultivation and solicitation plans.
+ This requires a comprehensive knowledge of the stewardship process and key priorities for the department.
**Volunteer Management:** Serves as primary staff liaison with Parents Council
+ Coordinates with advancement events management to execute all volunteer meetings and events specific to parent volunteers.
+ Manages all volunteer opportunities for Parents Council members in collaboration with University Admissions and Enrollment Management, Alumni Relations and constituent engagement, and Academic Excellence Units.
+ Coordinates all aspects of parent volunteers for the Welcome Call and Welcome Celebration programs, supporting the University’s Enrollment and Retention goals.
+ Coordinates all aspects of Parents Council programming to support philanthropic goals of Student Life and Academic Excellence teams. In coordination with Dean of Students; AVP University Student life offices.
Marketing and Communications
+ In collaboration with Senior Associate Director Parents Program; acts as liaison with Advancement communications to produce marketing materials for the Parents Program.
+ Acts as a liaison for Student Life and Academic Excellence team with Advancement Marketing team.
+ First point of contact for Parents Program communications utilizing Salesforce and Outlook platforms.
+ Assists in building annual communications strategies with Parents Council and Parents Leadership Volunteers.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s Degree Required
+ Two years’ direct development experience Required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Prior experience in event planning or development is highly preferred.
+ Some nights and weekends required during events.
+ Access to reliable transportation is a must. Required
