Summary:
We are seeking a visionary Director of Cardiovascular Surgical Services to lead and advance our nationally recognized heart and vascular program. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the largest heart program in a multi-state region, supported by 44 cardiologists and 28 advanced practice providers across 22 and growing locations. The Director will oversee 5 state-of-the-art cardiovascular operating rooms, a skilled team of 35 professionals, and provide direct support to 10 surgeons. Located at the region's only Level 1 trauma and tertiary care center, this program delivers highly complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries that set the standard for excellence in patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The Director of Cardiovascular Surgical Services plays a central role in shaping the program's strategic and operational success by:
+ Develops and implements advanced cv services goals, plans, and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
+ Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including all facets of cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery, pre and post procedural care and standardization, quality control objectives. Oversees the planning, construction, and activation of a new hybrid vascular OR.
+ Plans and monitors staffing activities of nurses and technicians, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Works closely with CICU leadership to coordinate post-operative care.
+ Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Candidate Qualifications
+ The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in Nursing with Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare, or relevant field - or - graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
+ Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Appropriate credentialing through Medical Staff Services. Prescriptive authority as appropriate, per Medical Staff privileging process. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
+ 3 years of cardiothoracic or vascular experience.
Essential:
* Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Provider.
