    Course of Study

     

    Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cyber Security

     

    Term

     

    + 1 year in length [37.5 hours per week during the summer; ~18-25 hours per week during school year]

    + Internship to begin in May and end the following May

    + Location – Subaru Headquarters in Camden, NJ

    + $20 an hour (undergrad)

    Qualifications

    + Current Juniors OR Seniors planning to pursue a Master’s Degree OR students currently enrolled in a Master’s Program

    + Must be an active student for the entire length of internship

    Requirements

    + Windows and PC experience

    + Microsoft Office experience

    + Programming experience (Java, C, PHP, Python, Perl, or comparable language)

    + Data Analytics: Python or R, SQL

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Strong analytical skills

    + Business courses a plus

    + SQL and/or Unix/Linux experience a plus

    Responsibilities

    Any combination of the following:

    + Gather and document requirements and write technical specifications for small projects

    + Develop and implement projects according to IT Department standards

    + Participate in software development activities in support of projects, maintenance, and support

    + Assist in project management tasks

    + Assist in infrastructure tasks for database, network, servers, etc.

    + Perform application administration tasks

    + Perform desktop/PC support tasks

    + Communicate with multiple teams within the department and become familiar with their operation

    + Present formal status and learning objectives to management team on periodic basis

    + Application Development is the process of creating and maintaining computer programs, or software applications, to perform specific tasks for a business. It's also known as software development.

    + Data Analytics is the process of using data to identify patterns, trends, and correlations in large data sets to solve problems and gain insights. It's a multidisciplinary field that uses a variety of tools, technologies, and processes, including math, statistics, and computer science.

    + Infrastructure is the foundation for a company's technology resources and applications. It’s made up of hardware, software, networks, facilities, and related services that allow a company to deploy, operate, and manage its technology.

    + IT Governance is a set of processes and standards that help organizations use information technology (IT) to achieve their goals while minimizing risk.

    + Marketing Technologies (MarTech) is the tools and technologies that businesses use to optimize their marketing efforts. The goal of MarTech is to make marketing processes more efficient and flexible.

    + Security is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. It's similar to physical security, which protects people and property from criminal activity or accidental damage.

    Summary

    Subaru of America’s Information Technology team serves a critical role in designing, deploying, and managing the applications, hardware, and infrastructure utilized throughout the business to help Subaru achieve its strategic goals. This position has various responsibilities but can include building business requirements for application design, software development, acceptance testing, information system security reviews, desktop software maintenance, and project management. The student will work closely with a project team of developers, business analysts, and managers to gain business and technical experience essential to future career opportunities.
