    Cost Accounting Manager

     

    A client of ours is looking for a Cost Accounting Manager for a contract role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost accounting, including standard costing, BOM (Bill of Materials) management, and system reporting within EPICOR. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to drive financial accuracy and efficiency.

     

    Responsibilities of Cost Accounting Manager

     

    + Manage and oversee the company’s cost accounting function, ensuring accuracy in standard costs, inventory valuation, and cost reporting.

    + Develop, maintain, and update standard costing models to reflect current production processes and costs.

    + Oversee the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings to ensure proper cost roll-ups and product costing.

    + Leverage EPICOR ERP system to extract, analyze, and report cost data, ensuring system integrity and alignment with accounting standards.

    + Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

    + Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to provide cost analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to improve profitability.

    + Lead monthly and quarterly cost close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

    + Prepare and present cost reports, financial analysis, and performance metrics to senior management.

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies for cost accounting practices.

    + Provide leadership, mentoring, and development to cost accounting staff.

    Requirements

    Skills/Qualifications of Cost Accounting Manager

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA is a plus.

    + 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, with a focus on manufacturing or similar industries.

    + Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, BOM management, and variance analysis.

    + Hands-on experience with EPICOR ERP system (or similar ERP software).

    + Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work cross-functionally and present financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
