    Position Summary

    We are currently seeking a Part-Time Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Instructor to deliver high-quality, in-person instruction to apprentices enrolled in a Department of Labor (DOL)-approved Registered Apprenticeship Program. Instruction is held during evening hours to accommodate working apprentices, with classes scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST on two weeknights, and occasional Saturdays (up to 8 hours) as needed. Please note: classroom schedule is subject to change based on program needs.

     

    This role requires a combination of technical expertise, instructional skill, and a commitment to supporting apprentices as they advance in their careers.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Deliver evening, in-person instruction aligned with DOL Registered Apprenticeship Standards and NCCER curriculum.

    + Prepare and present lesson plans and instructional materials in advance.

    + Foster a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment for all students.

    + Collaborate with the apprenticeship team, field supervisors, and administrative staff to ensure program compliance and support apprentice development.

    + Maintain accurate attendance, training records, and student evaluations.

    + Adhere to all RQ safety practices and classroom expectations.

    + Promote and uphold RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values in all instructional activities.

    Required Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree or higher preferred).

    + Minimum of four (4) years of relevant field experience in Sheet Metal systems.

    + NCCER Certification in Sheet Metal OR willingness to obtain NCCER Instructor Certification.

    + Assessment Proctor & Evaluator experience.

    + CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 Certifications (training provided if needed).

    + Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to manage time effectively, prepare lessons, and maintain accurate documentation.

    + Must be dependable, punctual, and adaptable to changing class schedules.

    + Authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check (including DoD background check for military base access).

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Prior teaching, training, or mentorship experience.

    + Coursework or certification in construction management or apprenticeship training.

    + Military, government, or large commercial project experience.

    + Familiarity with NCCER training standards and materials.
