    Your role

     

    Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor,

    Job Summary:

    The Labeling and Packaging Associate is responsible for ensuring the accurate preparation, reconciliation, and management of labeling materials used in production. This includes assembling and delivering the correct labels to the production lines based on the production schedule, performing inventory control, and maintaining documentation related to batch and labeling operations. The role involves collaborating with production, packaging engineering, and quality assurance teams to implement new labels and resolve operational issues. The associate is also responsible for auditing labeling returns, managing obsolete materials, and providing training to packaging associates on low complexity tasks. This position ensures that all labeling procedures and practices comply with company standards and remain up-to-date.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Labels Allocated to Production (35%)

    •Prepares all labeling materials to meet Production schedule. This involves identifying and assembling the materials related to each product in production, ensuring accurate quantities are provided, tracking what is provided, and preparing the batch cards.

    •Utilizes the production schedule to identify priorities and adjusts priorities as demanded by production changes.

    •Assures correct identity and accurate quantity of received labeling components from distribution, and returns from packaging.

    •Provides timely and accurate delivery of labeling and batch cards to the packaging lines (build cage).

    •Controls inventory of necessary supplies of label room operations and participates in physical inventory activities, if required.

    •Identifies operations issues and communicates these issues and potential solutions to supervisors/ management.

    •Identifies SOP updates and provides input for review.

    •Ensures they remain current on procedures.

    Labels Reconciled (35%)

    •Reviews/audits completed batch documentation and reconciles/inventories on all labeling returns

    Labels Changed Out (15%)

    •Works with the packaging engineering team, distribution, and QA to implement new/updated labels. This involves the release of a component change memo, reclass of old materials, and pulling samples for customer submissions.

    •Inventories obsolete labeling in a timely fashion.

    Packaging Associates Demonstrate Ability to Perform Low Complexity Tasks (15%)

    •Ensures written training documentation exists for the specific tasks that are being performed and regularly reviews documentation to verify that it is current and accurate.

    •Works one-on-one with trainees to present materials.

    •Completes training form and forwards to appropriate party for entry into training database.

     

    Your profile

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    •High School Diploma/GED required

    •1-2 years’ experience in the food/drug/chemical industry is preferred

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    •Must have proven ability to understand, communicate and follow directions and procedures (required)

    •Solid basic math skills and ability to understand the metric system (required)

    •Ability to understand subcomponents of systems and processes and how they flow together without necessarily being part of the process from start to finish

    •Ability to maintain adequate level of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine or repetitive.

     

    SCOPE OF DECISION-MAKING:Decisions require some judgment. Perform repetitive or routine duties working from detailed instructions and under standard procedures. Requires making minor decisions.

     

    LEVEL OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED:Individual contributor, not responsible for the work of others.

     

    INTERNAL / EXTERNAL CONTACTS:Primarily within department or immediate work unit: Requires contacts within the department or functional area on routine matters, or contacts with other departments. Occasionally contacts individuals outside the organization. Contacts are primarily for the purpose of supplying or seeking information.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT:

    Works mainly in a manufacturing environment with some disagreeable elements such as noise, dust, fumes, heat, safety hazards, etc.

    Details of physical requirements:

    •Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to lift and maneuver bulk containers of ingredients.

    •Must have physical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, bend, push, twist, kneel, climb, stoop, and reach overhead and able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.

    •Considerable mental/visual concentration, coordinating manual dexterity with mental/visual attention.

    •Mental/visual attention plus manual coordination.

    •Must be able to operate power equipment; routinely drives/operates lifts.

    •Must be able to work safely with materials and equipment; works with chemicals, tools, and equipment.

    •May work in an environment with variable but moderately high noise levels (hearing protection recommended). Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required.

    •Must wear appropriate garments and coverings per cGMP (uniforms, hair/beard nets, etc.).

    •Must be available for flexible schedule and/or overtime. Days and hours of work subject to change due to production schedules

    •Works with chemicals, tools and other equipment.

    Compensation range

    19.00 - 24.00 USD

    *The referenced compensation range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
