Responsibilities
The Ph.D. Exercise Physiologist collaborates with medical and allied health staff in activities that support the department's mission and goals. Incumbent also provides leadership based on the vision, philosophy, and core values of Mayo Clinic. Primary clinical responsibilities may include:
1. Preventive Cardiology Floor Practice:
• Patient exercise consultations to include but not limited to:
+ Patients with special physiological concerns or unexplained symptoms
+ Sports cardiology patients
+ Complex congenital and acquired cardiovascular disease
+ Executive Health patients wanting advanced exercise prescription
• Assisting medical and allied health staff with selected cases
2. Integrated Stress Center:
• Interpreting cardiopulmonary exercise tests
• Preliminary interpretation of exercise ECGs
• Directing the activities of allied health staff as tests are being performed (might include discussing the need for and arranging pre-test clearance, switching test modalities, adding imaging or VO2 measurements, determining protocol)
3. Cardiac Rehabilitation Program:
• Function as part of a multidisciplinary team to support and facilitate the CR program
• All Mayo Medical Staff are expected to make contributions on some level to all 3 of the Mayo
4. Shields: Practice, Education, and Research.
+ Practice:
+ Clinical contributions as described above.·Education:
o Teaching allied health staff, residents, fellows, and other students in the exercise lab and preventive practice
o Formal CME lectures, both internal Mayo CME programs (such as Grand rounds), Mayo sponsored external CME programs, and approved non-Mayo CME Teaching allied health staff, residents, fellows, and other students in the exercise lab and preventive practice
• Research:
o Contributing to IRB-approved research as a co-investigator
o Development of protocols and securing funding for research as a principal investigator
+ Participation in collating and publishing our exercise testing dataoPublication of peer-reviewed articles
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Human Exercise Physiology and/or Kinesiology required; ACSM Certification preferred within one year of hire.

Compensation Detail
The minimum starting salary for medical specialties may range from $202,000 to $663,037. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
