*Full-time, 40 hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30 pm, occasional evenings and weekends*
*Summary:*
Nuvance Health Community Education (CE) Programs seeks a hard-working, computer literate, customer focused and academically minded associate to educate the community in our basic layperson level Community Health Training Programs which may include topics such as CPR, First Aid, Child Safety, CPI Mental Health, Basic Life Support, and other targeted programs for individuals of all ages and backgrounds as well as our advanced courses for professionals including American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Stroke Life Support.
The community lead instructor plays a pivotal role in providing support to our community through in-person instruction at our Nuvance locations and various business locations throughout NY and CT. This individual will be tasked with becoming an instructor for every discipline we teach and being a curriculum expert in the subject areas. Instructors may also participate in community events like health fairs and child safety events as needed. Span of Control: Works under the direction of the Community Education Supervisor to support the needs of the division.
*Responsibilities:*
* Provides in-person instruction for a variety of course types to teach the community safety, life-saving skills, and awareness level trainings with the following requirements:
* Lectures in an energetic, clear, concise, confident way, adapting to the needs of your diverse audience and adjusting terminology to suit their education level.
* Demonstrates excellent time management delivering curriculum requirements within the suggested curriculum agendas or lesson maps.
* Identifies opportunities to adjust class activities for those with possible ADA related needs.
* Conduct all educational activities in accordance with the curriculum protocol, procedures and other appropriate institutional regulations, procedures, and policies, including procedures to safeguard confidentiality of participants.
* When written exams are required provide a quiet space free of distraction for students.
* Be willing and capable of travel to all company owned/affiliated hospital locations and surrounding community areas to teach on-site classes picking up and dropping off equipment at main office directly before and after assigned training classes.
* A clean driving record is required, and reliable personal transportation is required.
* Maintains organization of supplies, restock supplies, notify office staff of need for more supplies/equipment repairs, decontaminates equipment, and selects the appropriate equipment for the content you are teaching.
* Provides an inclusive, respectful, positive and customer service forward approach to teaching. Has consistent student ratings of Satisfactory or higher. Maintains a good reputation for yourself and the organization through your educational efforts.
* Conducts courses maintaining a professional and polished appearance.
* Meets the minimum number of required classes to maintain per diem employment, instructor certifications and maintains an expert level of program content. Participates in continuing education and reading up on subject content to maintain expert knowledge.
* Setups classroom, technology and other equipment/supplies required for instruction maintaining a safe and clean work environment for students.
* Remediates students with tact, kindness, positive reinforcement and with privacy as appropriate.
* Be capable and willing to work as part of a team or solo maintaining positive feedback from co-workers and students.
* Must be willing to be flexible to learn and expand to new curriculum knowledge as needed to support our communities or to support growth.
* Arrives to classes and events at 30-60 minutes early to ensure adequate time for class/event set up.
* Trains and evaluates new staff as community educators as requested in a respectful, professional manner.
* Represents Nuvance Health Community Education at events, meetings, and other local community gatherings as required.
* Builds strategic relationships to support the overall mission and aims of community education.
* Ensures detailed, complete, and diligent record keeping for all required paperwork at all classes and events.
* Completes all tasks in a timely manner and required tasks by any established due dates including organization mandatory training.
* Attends and participates in team meetings as necessary.
* Complies with all Nuvance Health and affiliate policies and ensure compliance with all applicable law and regulation.
* Maintains good standing within the community and Nuvance Health.
* Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
* Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
* Performs other duties as required.
*Leadership Skill Requirements*
* The instructor serves as a liaison between the community and the Director representing Nuvance Health in all activities. This associate handles the direction and coordination of their educational events.
* The instructor must be capable of providing presentations and leading community events both on their own and as part of a team in a professional manner.

* Communications: Excellent written and verbal communications skills; highly skilled presenter with clear concise speech.
* Customer Service: Be customer service driven, energetic and a positive attitude.
* Teamwork: Be able to work collaboratively and productively as part of a team when needed.
*Qualifications:*
* HS Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in health, education or related field preferred but not required.
* Prior experience as educator, public health, public relations, or customer service experience, preferred but not required.
* License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
* Preferred: American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS, PALS and ASLS instructor or provider certification, or other relevant instructor certification deemed appropriate by the Community Education Director.
* Required: AHA BLS Provider Certification required within 30 days of hire. Our team can provide the training for the right fit.
* Required: Prior experience and/or education in heart rhythm interpretation, advanced patient care, respiratory therapy, cardiology, pharmacology or have a professional license as an Paramedic, RN, RT, PA or other level of patient care.
* Required: Have and maintain a clean driving record. Have reliable personal transportation to transport equipment for events/classes.
* Required: Obtain instructor level certification within 30 days of hire in AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification, 9o days of hire obtain the American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification, within 100 days of hire obtain the Safe Kids Child Safety Seat Technician (CPST) certification within 120 days of hire (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Instructor certification at a minimum. Must learn and train for other disciplines over the course of a year as deemed necessary by the Community Education Director. We have the ability to train the right fit.
* Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
* Easily adapts to new technology and windows-based programs
* Ability to utilize AV equipment for presentations
* Highly skilled and comfortable lecturer with ability to adapt language to suit various levels of community knowledge
* Quickly learn and adapt to new curriculum requirements, updates, and topics
* Ability to travel to various locations throughout NY and CT.

Salary Range: $25.70 - $47.72 Hourly, commensurate with experience
