Full Time Special Education Teacher, Preschool (CPSE) Program, New York City

Positions are available throughout Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Provide direct service to children approved through the CPSE program in accordance with the mandate and location identified in the Individualized Educational Plan.

+ Work in diverse settings such as client homes, family day cares, day care centers, preschools or other community settings.

+ Follow Individualized Educational Plans, plan ongoing treatment, and interpret goals and treatment plan for parents and other professionals.

+ Conduct collaborative activities with other professionals working on a case.

+ Educate all individuals involved in a case on different intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.

+ Prepare progress reports as per program timelines

+ Present updates on cases at Annual Review and/or program review meetings as needed.

+ Utilize various systems to ensure documentation for a case is completed and meets regulatory expectations.

+ Administrative responsibilities include review of evaluation packets, creation of required summary documents and attendance at initial eligibility meetings.

+ Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA and State & Federal regulations) and submit records to agency within established deadlines

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a passion for working with children and families!

+ One of the following certifications/licenses

+ Students with Disabilities (Birth – 2 or All Grades), Initial or Professional certification

+ Permanent Special Education certificate

+ CPSE experience preferred, but not required

+ Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, but not required

+ Must be self-motivated, a team player, and exercise patience/professionalism

Physical Requirements:

+ Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases including but not limited to driving personal vehicle, walking, and/or use of public transportation such as a bus or train.

+ The ability to climb and descend staircases

+ The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly

+ The ability to sit on the floor, kneel, and/ or crawl for extended periods

Salary: $70,000-$75,000 per year. Please note this is a 12 month position.
