JOB SUMMARY
Support business objectives by managing and organizing modeling data and Facility Ratings to ensure accuracy and resolve data-related issues. These processes impact a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. May also assist Engineers with assignments related to other Planning functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Develops and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external entities such as Operations, Engineering, Compliance, MISO, SPP, Generator Owners and developers, transmission companies, cooperatives and Distribution Providers interconnected to the transmission systems.
+ Supports the Company's business model by taking an active role on various committees, panels and working groups at Regional Reliability Organizations, Regional Transmission Organizations, NERC/ERO and other industry and stakeholder related groups.
+ Supports Department functions by monitoring and proposing enhancements to Planning processes to support Department objectives and deliverables.
+ Supports RTO and RRO data submittals, regulatory filings, NERC compliance activities and development of contracts.
+ Monitors policy issues and select regulatory activities that may have an impact on the company and provides planning support for regulatory and legal filings.
+ Coordinate closely with cross-departmental teams to add new or modify existing data to ensure accurate representation of current and/or future assets.
+ Maintain or improve current change management strategies, and dissemination of data updates to ensure timeliness through the proper communication channels.
+ Updates and maintains steady-state and short-circuit modeling data that is used by various internal and external entities. Future functions may also include the maintenance of dynamics and EMT data as well.
REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
+ Knowledge of electric utility system operations, planning, protection, design, construction and/or maintenance functions preferred.
+ Minimum Experience:
+ No work experience required for an Associate Engineer level.
+ Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in related area for an Intermediate Engineer level.
+ Minimum of five (6) years of work experience in related area for Senior Engineer level.
+ **Engineer** candidates must be able to quickly learn job specific skills and be able to work independently given regular work direction while appropriately keeping others informed of activities and issues or potential issues.
+ **Senior Engineer** candidates must have advanced engineering skills and be able to work under minimal supervision given high level work direction while appropriately keeping others informed of activities and issues or potential issues.
+ Direct or indirect knowledge of the MISO and/or SPP planning processes.
+ Direct or indirect knowledge of ITC, NERC and/or applicable RTO planning standards.
+ Ability to implement and support Planning processes, policies, documents and procedures.
+ Expertise with the use of, or ability to learn and utilize various power system analytical software (i.e., Siemens PTI PSS/E, Gridscale X APA (formerly CAPE)).
+ Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the company.
+ Ability to work in a team environment.
+ Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
+ Programming experience preferred (i.e., Python)
+ Some travel may be required.
