**Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES)** is seeking a highly skilled **Systems Engineer** at the **Senior or Staff Level** to join our **Airborne Power & Control (APC) Product Group** in **Kirkland, WA** . This on-site position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing you to work from home 2-3 days per week.

Job Summary
As a Systems Engineer at Astronics AES, your primary mission will be to drive business growth by designing next-generation aircraft power systems. You will leverage your technical acumen and innovative mindset to create electrical power solutions that deliver significant improvements in weight, cost, and reliability. You will be expected to lead the definition and verification of Line-Replaceable Unit (LRU) requirements. Within three months, you should be spearheading the requirements definition and verification activities for multiple aircraft power products. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer interaction, and collaborative teamwork to ensure the successful development of cutting-edge power systems for airborne applications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ **Innovative Power Systems Development:** Utilize your extensive experience to design and develop electrical power systems, focusing on innovations that offer weight, cost, and reliability benefits over traditional solutions. Lead the LRU requirements definition and verification process.
+ **Customer Credibility:** Engage with customers to establish yourself as a trusted expert in aircraft electrical power systems design and certification. Build and maintain key relationships to enhance Astronics AES's reputation as the industry leader in aircraft power solutions.
+ **Technology Trade-Off Assessment:** Stay abreast of new technology trends in power systems and provide insightful recommendations based on practical experience and certification standards.
+ **High-Performance Team Environment:** Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, test engineers, technicians, mechanical engineers, program management, manufacturing, and supply chain to achieve project success.
+ **Internal Technical Leadership:** Foster cooperative working relationships with internal engineering teams, providing technical guidance, conducting peer reviews, and offering mentorship. Contribute to the growth and development of less experienced engineers and ensure the quality and reliability of power system designs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
+ Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
+ Experience with requirements capture and management tools such as Polarion, Caliber, DOORS, and Jama.
+ Ability to author technical documents, including specifications and plans.
+ Experience following a defined system development process.
+ Experience presenting technical information to customers and management.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-structured environment.
+ Experience with DO-160, ARP4754, bizjet, helicopter, electric aircraft, aircraft electrical power systems, and aircraft OEM requirements are highly desired.
+ Aerospace cybersecurity (DO-326A, DO-356A) experience is a plus.
Experience
+ Demonstrates **proficiency** (typically 5-7 years of direct experience) with the above duties and responsibilities for consideration as **Sr. Systems Engineer** .
+ Demonstrates **expertise** (typically 8 or more years of direct experience) with the above duties and responsibilities for consideration as **Staff Systems Engineer** .
Employment Eligibility Requirements
+ As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). **Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.**
+ Employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and **drug test, including cannabis screening.**
Compensation
+ Sr. Systems Engineer base salary: $102,687 - $154,031 per year. (Mid-point: $128,359)
+ Staff Systems Engineer base salary: $132,983 - $199,474 per year. (Mid-point: $166,228)
+ Several factors influence the actual salary offered, including experience, skills, training, certifications, and market conditions. Typically, new hires are closer to the mid-point of the range.
