    Description of Work Unit

    The Department of Psychology resides in CSU’s College of Natural Sciences, along with seven other departments: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics. The Psychology Department serves approximately 1400 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students, with roughly 30 full-time tenure-line faculty members distributed across five doctoral programs: (1) Applied Social and Health Psychology, (2) Cognitive Neuroscience, (3) Cognitive Psychology, (4) Counseling Psychology and Psychological Clinical Science, and (5) Industrial and Organizational Psychology. The Department houses the Tri-Ethnic Center for Prevention Research, a center focusing on social problems that affect rural areas across ethnicities, and an occupational health psychology training program which is part of the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center. The Department also houses the following service centers: the Psychological Services Center, which supports graduate student training in clinical and counseling psychology while providing mental health care; the Aging Clinic of the Rockies, which focuses on research, clinical services, and outreach for older adults in the community; and the Center for Meaning and Purpose, which is about creating and disseminating knowledge enabling meaning, well-being, and health.     The Department is primarily located in the Behavioral Sciences Building ( BSB ), a LEED Gold-Certified building completed in 2010 and expanded in 2014. The BSB includes office space for full-time faculty and graduate students, meeting and seminar rooms, state-of-the-art classrooms, and numerous lounge and study areas.     Position Summary

    The Department of Psychology at Colorado State University ( CSU ) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Program, beginning August 16, 2026. We seek a candidate with a strong record of research, teaching, and mentoring who will contribute to the program’s aim of integrating clinical science with the advancement of general psychology and public health science.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Maintain an active, high-quality research program capable of attracting external funding.

    + Teach undergraduate courses in psychology.

    + Teach graduate courses in the Clinical Psychology program, which may include clinical supervision of trainees.

    + Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including doctoral trainees in Clinical Psychology.

    + Engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession.

    + Obtain and maintain licensure as a psychologist in Colorado and provide clinical supervision.

     

    Conditions of EmploymentPre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited graduate program, completed by July 30, 2026.

    + Completed an APA -approved or CPA -approved, or substantially-equivalently approved clinical internship, by July 30, 2026.

    + Evidence of potential for excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring.

    + Willingness to apply for and maintain licensure as a psychologist in Colorado.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Has an active research program in an area of psychopathology that diversifies the program’s existing strengths.

    + Experience in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and mentorship.

    + Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate trainees.

    + Sustained record of peer-reviewed clinical science publications in high-impact journals commensurate with appointment at the assistant professor level.

    + Documented potential to secure external research funding.

    + Preference will be given to candidates who have made progress toward licensure in their state of residence.

    + Candidates with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a research-focused training program are preferred.

    + Evidence of fostering an environment that aligns with CSU’s values and priorities as a land-grant institution, increasing access to a world-class education for all who possess the talent and desire to attain the knowledge and skills necessary to have a positive impact on the university and the communities it serves.
