    The Katherine Thomas School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an opportunity for a full-time Special Education Middle School Teaching Assistant (TA) beginning with the current school year.     Hourly Rate of $19 - $24/hour, DOE

    Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:

    + Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula

    + Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules

    + Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs

    + Create a supportive learning environment

    + Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

    + Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports

    Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:

    + MUST have a Bachelors Degree

    + Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred

    + Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful

    + Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented

    + Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
