Job Description
Engineers will work on high-impact nuclear infrastructure projects including SMRs, fuel fabrication facilities, and restart efforts. Responsibilities include seismic and structural analysis, soil-structure interaction (SSI), finite element modeling, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Seismic SMEs will lead technical efforts in nuclear seismic design, while construction SMEs will bring hands-on field experience to support poured concrete, steel design, and direct work with craftspeople. Project Leads will oversee technical execution and mentor junior staff. All work is on-site due to CUI restrictions, with rare exceptions. Engineers must be proactive, technically rigorous, and able to operate in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Skills and Requirements
- 10–20 years of experience as a Seismic Engineer/ SME
- Recent experience acting as an SE in a nuclear environment
- Experience and familiarity with NQA1 standards
- PE or SE license
- Expertise in STAAD.Pro and/or SAP2000
- Proven SSI experience (Soil-Structure Interaction) with objective evidence (ANSYS/ FEA or SASSI)
• ANSYS- is a general-purpose simulation software for analyzing how structures respond to stress, vibration, and other forces.
• SASSI- is a specialized tool used in nuclear engineering to model how soil and structures interact during earthquakes (Soil-Structure Interaction).
- Familiarity with seismic codes: ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 349, AISC N690, DOE-STD-1020
- Ability to work on-site in Oak Ridge, TN
- Ability to obtain a clearance (USC requirement) - Member of nuclear code committees (ASCE, ACI, AISC)
- DOE Q clearance
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation
- Master’s in Civil Engineering
- Field experience: poured concrete, structural steel, working with craftspeople
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
