    Job Description:

    Communicates with Equipment Mechanic and others to perform job tasks.

     

    2. Works under direct supervision in all weather conditions.

    3. Must have valid driver’s license (may require CDL with Hazmat).

    4. Assists in the operation and inspection of equipment to diagnose defects and repair all types of construction equipment.

    5. Performs routine preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment (i.e. lubrication, and replacement of brakes, belts, hoses, filters, fluids, and engine tune-up).

    6. Dismantles and reassembles heavy construction equipment.

    7. Examines parts for excessive damage or wear.

    8. Tests overhauled equipment to ensure efficient operation.

    9. Pushes and/or pulls tool boxes to position them while working on equipment.

    10. Maintains appropriate company records to document equipment maintenance, service and repair using electronic mobile devices (i.e. work orders completed using iPad).

    11. Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

    12. Performs maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.

    13. Assists fuel/lube truck mechanics on field assignments.

    14. Adheres to all safety procedures.

    15. Typically requires 6 months of industrial construction experience.

    Required Skills:

    The Level 1 Machine Control & Telematics Support Technician duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair telematics and machine control enabled equipment.

    • Install and/or remove telematics devices and machine control systems.

    • Commission new telematics and machine control enabled equipment into their respective platforms and verify connectivity.

    • Performs Inbound / Outbound inspections.

    • Receive technical training from Level 2 technicians as well as telematics and machine control vendors.

    • Periodic travel with Level 2 Machine Control & Telematics Technicians.

    • Create detailed work orders and supporting documentation for all work performed.

    • Support the evaluation and implementation of new and emerging telematics and machine control technologies.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3 years’ experience working with heavy equipment, electrical and mechanical systems operations.

    • Demonstrate experience in trouble shooting and solving technical problems.

    • General knowledge of heavy industrial construction technology and equipment, involving a mix of mechanical and office duties with modern instruments and software, and with general knowledge of modern machine control and telematics hardware and software.

    • Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” safety program. Must have a strong drive toward Safety, both on and off the job, a commitment to seeing everyone go home each day as well and healthy as they came to work that day

    • Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework.

    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with construction management teams, survey team members, other departments, and vendors

    • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, memos, calculations and other documentation

    • Excellent problem-solving ability

    • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Teams

    • Must be willing and can travel to jobsites in the United States and overseas
