    Compounding Pharmacy Technician

     

    Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

     

    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

    Overview

    Join a dynamic pharmacy team in a state-of-the-art cancer center located in downtown Phoenix. As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to support critical medication preparation, distribution, and inventory functions. This role offers exposure to both outpatient infusion and inpatient pharmacy settings, with opportunities for cross-training and career advancement.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Prepare and dispense medications accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.

    + Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding, including hazardous drug handling, following USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines.

    + Manage automated dispensing systems (Omnicell/Pyxis), ensuring proper stocking and inventory accuracy.

    + Deliver medications promptly to clinical areas to support patient care workflows.

    + Maintain inventory levels, process medication returns, and handle charging/crediting functions.

    + Participate in quality assurance programs and maintain detailed documentation.

    + Provide clerical and administrative support to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.

    + Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and coordinated care.

    + Maintain aseptic techniques and proper handling of controlled substances.

    + Cross-train in specialty areas such as outpatient neurology infusion and inpatient pharmacy.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    + Active CPhT certification

    + Minimum 1 year of infusion compounding experience

    + Experience with Omnicell or Pyxis automated shelving systems

    + Strong data entry and medication processing skills

    + Familiarity with IV and chemotherapy compounding

    + Ability to restock automated dispensing machines accurately

    Preferred Qualifications

    + 1+ years of chemotherapy compounding experience

    Work Environment

    This role is based on the infusion floor of the cancer center (2nd floor), with occasional work in the inpatient pharmacy located 3 miles away. The facility is recognized as a healthy workplace and encourages professional growth, offering opportunities to pick up additional shifts and advance within both the cancer center and inpatient teams.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
