Job Title: Hardware Engineering Technician I

Job Description

Join a leading company in Bolingbrook, IL, specializing in the development of wireless monitoring solutions for high-value mobile assets such as locomotives, industrial equipment, and marine vessels. We are seeking a dedicated Hardware Test Technician to join our team on the 1st shift.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate closely with the Hardware Engineering department on draft designs and test new hardware.

+ Install hardware and boards into systems, conduct power testing and individual component testing.

+ Repair tasks include swapping out boards inside the WIPU, load testing with capacitors, resistors, long cables, connectivity testing, and signal testing.

+ Perform upgrades by installing new boards or cables inside the WIPU.

+ Conduct software OS-based testing, load OS, boot up, and perform network ping and other communication port tests.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in hardware testing, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.

+ Proficient in oscilloscope testing, connectivity testing, and signal testing.

+ 3+ years of experience with electronics and software OS.

+ Ability to tear down computers and replace components.

+ Proficient in software Windows OS troubleshooting.

+ Excellent communication skills to work alongside hardware engineers.

+ Computer literacy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in a PC repair/technician role, such as roles found in the Best Buy Geek Squad.

+ Experience as a Repair Agent or Advanced Repair Agent.

+ Associate's degree in electronics is a plus.

+ Motivation to advance career towards becoming a Hardware or Software Engineer.

Work Environment

The position is based in a newly expanded production facility with new test benches and state-of-the-art equipment. The modern facility is located in the Bolingbrook Promenade Shopping Center's business center.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
