    UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Ambulatory Behavioral Health Services!

     

    This senior leadership role is responsible for the supervision of program directors and managers across a large and diverse community mental health center in Erie, as well as regional oversight of ambulatory behavioral health programs at affiliated sites in Chautauqua County, NY, and Jameson (New Castle, PA). The position requires periodic travel to these regional locations, with visits expected to decrease in frequency as you become more established. You will oversee a broad range of services, including crisis and crisis residential programs, outpatient mental health, addiction medicine, peer support, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs.

     

    Key responsibilities include ensuring day-to-day operational excellence, aligning programs with strategic and financial goals, and maintaining high standards of client care across all sites. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills, financial management expertise including budgeting and program planning, and the ability to work effectively with a wide array of stakeholders including UPMC leadership, contracting entities, board members, and the media. Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating organizational change processes is essential, as is the ability to make difficult decisions under pressure and in ambiguous situations. Experience in crisis, hospital, or other acute behavioral health settings is preferred.

     

    The teams under your leadership will include approximately 135-150 staff at Safe Harbor in Erie, around 50 staff in Chautauqua, and about 6 at Jameson. As a senior leader, you should be comfortable with non-traditional hours and varying work weeks, which may occasionally be necessary given the scope and responsibility of this leadership role.

    Responsibilities:

    + Develops, conducts, and evaluates staff education, training, and competency maintenance.

    + Participates in leadership meetings and coordinates implementation of administrative, clinical and training decisions.

    + Provides ongoing analysis of direct care services to improve quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

    + Leads revision management programs and represent the organization in clinical leadership roles at corporate, state and local levels.

    + Assists in setting, monitoring, and achieving departmental goals across clinical, fiscal and operational areas; collaborates on strategic planning and budgeting.

    + Evaluate patient satisfaction and contributes to developing and implementing improvement actions.

    + Partners with Human Resources on recruitment, retention, performance management, and collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders.

    + BSN Required

    + OR master's degree in nursing or related health care field required, either at time of hire/transfer, OR must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment. (i.e. public health, informational technology, administration, etc.) WITH 3 years of nursing management required. Behavioral health experience required.

    + OR master's degree in human services related field required. Doctoral degree (PhD) in psychology, school psychology, education or a related field _preferred_ . 3 years of management experience required.

    + Previous experience in a leadership role.

    + Work collaboratively with other staff members specifically demonstrating communication, coordination and organizational skills.

    + Has successfully assessed and developed programming on their units Has provided training and mentoring for staff.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Act 33/34/73 clearances

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
