Purpose: The Mobility Tech would provide routine mobilization of patients within their assigned departments in accordance with established policies and procedures under the direction of the interdisciplinary team (Nurse, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and Physician) to execute the mobilization needs within their patient populations. Mobility techs will routinely perform mobilization responsibilities including: Mobilizing patients to walk the hall, assisting patients to a chair for meals, utilizing lifts to assist bed bound patients to a chair, understand/acquire vital signs as needed, telemetry application, and assisting with basic patient needs (filling water pitchers, assisting to the restroom, setting up meal trays).
Responsibilities:
+ Suggests and supports changes within the unit and views problems as opportunities. Takes responsibility for assignments and contributes to unit efficiency.
+ Supports departmental projects and quality initiatives. Reports equipment malfunctions promptly.
+ Builds productive relationships through accountability, motivation, and commitment. Assists with patient ambulation tailored to individual needs in collaboration with Rehab and Nursing.
+ Seeks help with planning and prioritizing when needed; participates in self-review. Communicates clearly with the healthcare team and understands cultural and professional challenges.
+ Promotes safety for patients and self in the workplace. Establishes effective communication with other departments and maintains respectful relationships.
+ Accepts feedback constructively and identifies learning needs. Takes initiative to improve skills and performance.
+ Notifies RN of patient condition changes and supports unit tasks like call lights, phones, and meal trays.
+ Accurately documents activities in the medical record.
+ Follows safety protocols and hospital policies. Completes assigned work efficiently and maintains confidentiality.
+ High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
+ Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
+ Good communication skills. Displays excellent customer service skills.
+ Basic computer knowledge.
+ May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
+ Act 34
