Summary:
We are seeking an Optical Systems Engineer to join our team. This role requires an experienced individual who can drive cross-functional teams, analyze large datasets, and contribute to the failure analysis of complex systems.
Required Skills:
Optical Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams comprising members from broad technical backgrounds to deliver project objectives
2. Design, develop, and optimize camera modules, ambient light sensing (ALS), and other optical sensing solutions for next-generation products
3. Collaborate across functions to understand end-to-end product requirements and system constraints, and translate them into clear specifications at the component, module, and system levels
4. Review and analyze large volumes of factory and production data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement
5. Conduct and support failure analysis of complex systems, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
6. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
7. Travel internationally about 10%, as needed, to vendors and manufacturing sites to support product development, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities

8. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related engineering field
9. Minimum 2 years of industrial experience in optical sensing, ambient light sensing, camera or depth module design, or related areas
10. Proven analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret large datasets
11. Experience with failure analysis and troubleshooting of complex systems
12. 2+ years of experience with optical sensing technologies such as ambient light sensing (ALS)

13. Experience with optical sensor integration in consumer electronics or automotive applications
14. Experience with the product development cycle of high-volume consumer electronics
15. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, testing, and quality control in high-volume production environments for optical/depth sensing modules
16. Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and data visualization software
17. Familiarity with LED or VCSEL based illuminators
Public Compensation:
$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
