Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs. **Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - Wound Care Center, Indian River Hospital** **Location:** Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital (CCIRH), Vero Beach, Florida **Department:** Infectious Disease **Employment Type:** Full-Time **Position Summary:** Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Wound Care Center team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with acute and chronic wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, venous ulcers, surgical wounds, and other complex wounds. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the PA/NP will play a critical role in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to promote optimal healing and improve patient outcomes. **Duties Include:** -Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic testing.- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.- Perform wound care procedures, such as debridement, dressing changes, compression therapy, and application of advanced wound care products.- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate multidisciplinary care.- Monitor and document wound healing progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.- Educate patients and their families on wound care management, prevention, and lifestyle modifications to support healing.- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and laboratory studies, to guide clinical decision-making.- Prescribe medications, including antibiotics, pain management, and other treatments, in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies.- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advancements in wound care through continuing education and professional development.- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. **Qualifications** **Education:** **APRN** Graduate of an accredited APRN program. Master's degree is required upon hire. **PA** Graduate of an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree obtained from a program recognized by their practicing states Licensing Board. **Languages:** Oral and written communication in English **Certifications:** **NP**
+ Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s).
+ Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s).
+ National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by nationally accredited organization recognized by state Board of Nursing.
+ Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA.
+ Wound care certification (e.g., WCC, CWS, CWCN) preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years of hire.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) may be required based upon work setting.
+ Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with requirements set forth by the State Board of Nursing in applicable states.
+ Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
PA
+ Certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA or successor organization recognized by their practicing states Licensing Board.
+ License to practice and prescribe issued by their practicing states Licensing Board.
+ Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) American Heart Association may be required based upon work setting.
+ If a candidate has held a license to prescribe within another jurisdiction and needs to obtain a master's degree in order to apply for prescribing privileges the candidate will be subject for review for eligibility for hiring within our system.
+ Must have a Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum to Physician Supervision Agreement.
+ Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
Work Experience:** - Previous experience in wound care, dermatology, vascular surgery, or a related field preferred.- New graduates with a strong interest in wound care and relevant clinical rotations are encouraged to apply. **Skills:** - Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer skills. **Work Environment:** - The Wound Care Center operates during regular business hours, with no on-call or weekend requirements.- The role involves working in both outpatient and inpatient settings, with occasional exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases.- Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, assist with patient positioning, and perform manual wound care procedures.Why Join CCIRH? + Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
