Job Posting: Payroll Specialist

Employment Type: Contract

Compensation: $25 - $36 hourly

About the Role

Robert Half is partnering with a dynamic and growing organization to find an experienced Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring employees are compensated accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations. Key Responsibilities

+ Process semi-monthly, biweekly, or weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

+ Maintain payroll records, including wage adjustments, benefit deductions, and tax withholding.

+ Review and reconcile payroll reports to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

+ Respond promptly to employee inquiries about payroll, deductions, or tax issues.

+ Assist with annual reporting requirements, including W-2 and 1099 processing.

+ Calculate and process bonuses, overtime, and commissions where applicable.

+ Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate onboarding of employee information.

+ Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations, including applicable state or regional requirements.

+ Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors or agencies when necessary.

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.

+ Experience: 2+ years of payroll experience; experience with multi-state payroll (or construction-specific payroll) a plus.

+ Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or QuickBooks) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

+ Knowledge: Familiarity with federal and state payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.

+ Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive employee data with confidentiality.
