We’re seeking a technically skilled Senior Engineer to support the design transfer and lifecycle sustainment of transesophageal (TEE) probes already in the market. In this role, you’ll be part of a global team driving excellence in product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.

     

    Your Impact

     

    As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the transfer of TEE probe design and manufacturing from our site in Horten, Norway, to State College, Pennsylvania, USA. You’ll serve as the technical interface between design and manufacturing teams, ensuring smooth transitions and long-term support for our installed base. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical performance.

     

    TEE probes are a critical component of GE HealthCare’s cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio, empowering clinicians to visualize the heart with precision and confidence. By supporting these devices throughout their lifecycle, you’ll help ensure continuity of care across the entire cardiology pathway, from early detection and diagnosis to intervention and monitoring.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Lead technical workstreams in complex transfer programs, coordinating across global teams

    + Support design transfer activities, including documentation, verification, validation, and troubleshooting

    + Build deep product knowledge to support manufacturing and quality teams post-transfer

    + Collaborate with engineering, advanced manufacturing, suppliers, and third-party vendors

    + Represent the TEE Design Office in Horten at the US site, harmonizing inputs and requests

    + Contribute to planning and execution of transfer projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and quality targets are met

    What You Bring

    + Background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Medical Device Engineering, or equivalent. Minimum expected knowledge level comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma with demonstrated, relevant experience

    + Experience in design, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering for medical devices

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset

    + Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions and cultures

    + Legal authorization to work in the US is required

    Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

     

    Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    + Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.

    + Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

    + In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

    + Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

    + A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

    Required Qualifications

    + For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

    + For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

    Desired Characteristics

    + Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.Note: **To comply with US immigration and other legal requirements, it is necessary to specify the minimum number of years’ experience required for any role based within the USA.** **For roles outside of the USA, to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, the JDs should focus on the substantive level of experience required for the role and a minimum number of years should NOT be used.**
