    The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.

    Job Purpose:

    Develops, edits, and maintains policies and procedures for Sycuan Gaming Commission. Assists Casino Operations by reviewing submitted policies to ensure that Casino Operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and Gaming Commission policy guidelines.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)

     

    + Provides regulatory policies and procedures to affected departments by reviewing policy and procedure drafts received from departments for accuracy, clarity, content, and grammatical correctness.

    + Consults with department Directors and Managers for additional information or clarification of policies and procedures, determining the impact of proposed policies and procedures, recommending the necessary changes to ensure tribal assets are protected and compliance with the Gaming Commission’s regulatory responsibilities are met.

    + Maintains an efficient tracking and data file system for collection and storing of policies and procedures, and distributing approved policies and procedures to affected department heads.

    + Ensures policies and procedures meet compliance requirements by reviewing industry publications, monitoring new or pending legislative requirements, communicating with outside gaming establishments, law enforcement agencies and governing bodies regarding pertinent issues which may impact existing policies and procedures, recommending and implementing necessary changes to ensure continued compliance, and drafting and distributing approved new or revised policies or procedures.

    Job Specifications:

    Education and Experience:

    Essential:

    + Associate’s Degree in English, Criminal Justice or related field or equivalent experience

    + 5 years’ experience in a gaming commission, regulatory and/or casino audit position

    + Technical writing experience

    Desirable:

    + Casino operations experience

    Skills and Knowledge:

    Essential:

    + Working knowledge of gaming industry regulatory requirements

    + Ability to obtain, assemble, organize and evaluate information

    + Ability to prepare clear and concise reports

    + Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse employee and customer population

    + Ability to analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

    + Excellent judgmental, analytical and decision-making skills

    + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret moderately complex technical data

    + Ability to research and draft written policies, procedures, materials and documents

    + Excellent composition and written communication skills

    + Ability to complete forms and documents

    + Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality

    + Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer applications

    + Ability to accept constructive criticism
