Job Summary

Bowdoin College is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Shuttle Driver to provide on-demand transportation for students within the Brunswick area. Operating a 7-passenger van, the driver will deliver safe, friendly, and timely service. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean vehicle, operating a radio communication device, and completing daily and weekly reports.

Compensation:

+ The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour, and this position is eligible for shift, and weekend pay differentials

Education/Skills Requirements

+ High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s or Vocational/Technical training preferred

+ A valid Driver’s license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy required

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

+ Ability to remain calm and act effectively in emergency or high-pressure situations

+ Strong time management skills with a keen attention to detail

+ Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

+ At least one year of experience in a customer service-focused driving role (e.g., taxi, chauffeur, shuttle, or bus driver)preferred

Standard Work Days and Hours

+ This is an onsite, casual, non-benefit eligible position, working less than 19 hours/week.

+ The shuttle operates 7 days a week whenever the students are in session.

+ At a minimum, casual drivers are required to work one 8-hour shift per month. We currently need coverage on Fridays and Saturdays between 7:30 PM and 1:30 AM.

Employment at Bowdoin College is contingent upon satisfactory completion of applicable background checks including but not limited to: criminal records, educational verifications, driving records (when job-related), and/or credit history (when job related).
