Description
SUMMARY
This position coordinates Health Information Management policies, procedures, and operations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to be a detail-oriented and experienced HIM and Professional Coding leader. This position will oversee all coding and health information management functions. This role will focus on maintaining compliance, ensuring accurate and efficient coding practices, managing patient records, and leading a team of coding and HIM professionals. The HIM and Coding Manager will be a key leader within the Revenue Cycle team, working collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to optimize reimbursement and support quality healthcare delivery at WCHC.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
+ Supervise, train, and support coding and HIM staff, promoting professional development and ensuring high-quality performance.
+ Monitor daily operations and workload distribution to meet productivity and accuracy standards.
+ Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, focusing on continuous improvement and adherence to WCHC’s values and policies.
+ Plan, direct, organize, and control the Health Information Management Department to ensure uniformity of operations and adherence to standardized procedures.
+ Advise Senior Leaders and others regarding problems and projects relating to medical records involving technical guidelines, staffing, training, scheduling, etc.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
+ Must hold a valid coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC (RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H)
+ Minumum of three years supervisory and administrative experience in medical records or directly related area.
+ Proven ability to manage a large department and/or a large group of people effectively.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Very good knowledge and experience working with computers, information systems, and software relating to medical records.
