Looking to gain hands-on experience in EHS within a dynamic manufacturing environment?

Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics has an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Internship opportunity available for the Spring 2026 semester at our Naval Electronics Display, Processing, and Networking Center of Excellence manufacturing facility located in Johnstown, PA.

As an EHS intern, you will assist our EHS team in ensuring our policies and procedures comply with all applicable regulations and standards.

Job Responsibilities

+ Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, DEP and EPA regulations

+ Support in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility

+ Participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions

+ Help maintain EHS documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS), training records, and regulatory filings

+ Assist in the coordination of safety training programs for employees

+ Contribute to the development and execution of environmental sustainability initiatives

+ Perform other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager

+ Respond to problems and issues in a tactful and expedient manner

+ Perform facilities inspections and comply with reporting requirements

+ Assist in data collection and the generation of reports and metrics

Qualifications

+ Currently pursuing a degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or another related field

+ Basic understanding of environmental and safety regulations (OSHA knowledge is a plus)

+ Strong communication, organization, and negotiation skills

+ Proficiency in PC-based computer skills

+ Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus but not required

+ Willingness to engage in hands-on activities and projects related to safety and environmental protection
