Job Description: Test Prep Manager (In-Person, San Antonio)

Position: Test Prep Manager

Reports to: Executive Director of College Advising and Tutoring

About the Role

We are seeking a Test Prep Manager who is passionate about helping students reach their academic potential while also driving the growth of our test preparation programs in the San Antonio market. This role is unique in that it combines direct student support through one-on-one and small group test prep tutoring (approximately 50% of the role) with strategic responsibilities in business development, team growth, and program improvement.

You'll work closely with the Executive Director of College Advising and Tutoring to build strong community partnerships, expand our presence in local schools, and ensure that our test prep services are effective, scalable, and aligned with our mission to empower students to succeed in their academic journeys.

Our ambitious goal is 10x growth in the San Antonio market within one year, and you'll play a pivotal role in making that a reality. You'll have the support of an experienced Executive Director and a dedicated team eager to think creatively and execute bold strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Test Preparation & Instruction (≈50%)

+ Deliver engaging, effective, and personalized test preparation tutoring (e.g., SAT, ACT, PSAT, or other standardized tests as needed).

+ Assess student strengths and areas for growth to tailor instruction accordingly.

+ Track student progress, adjust strategies, and provide regular feedback to students and families.

+ Stay up to date on test changes, best practices, and instructional strategies to ensure high-quality preparation.

Business Development & Market Growth (≈50%)

+ Lead efforts to grow the San Antonio test prep market by 10x in one year.

+ Build partnerships with high schools, community organizations, and educational institutions to expand program reach.

+ Develop and execute strategic initiatives to increase brand awareness and market presence.

+ Recruit, train, and mentor new test prep tutors to grow and scale the team.

+ Collaborate with the Executive Director of College Advising and Tutoring to strengthen training processes, implement effective progress tracking, and ensure program excellence.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

+ Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in education, counseling, or related field preferred.

+ At least 3-5 years of experience in test preparation tutoring (SAT, ACT, or similar).

+ Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

+ Experience in business development, school partnerships, or program management is highly preferred.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, or train team members.

+ Comfort with data tracking tools and a commitment to continuous improvement.

+ Passion for education, equity, and student success.

PREFERRED

+ Has worked or run a test prep or tutoring company and/or team

+ Experience creating new systems and operations

+ Experience growing a market

+ Thinks creatively to see new opportunities
