This role requires a high level of professionalism and sensitivity, as the Intake Navigator regularly discusses complex topics such as mental health history, substance use, and suicidal ideation. The Navigator is responsible for scheduling initial assessments, coordinating interpreter services, verifying insurance eligibility, and maintaining service authorizations throughout the episode of care.

The position also manages incoming referrals from various internal and external sources (e.g., Parkview Physicians Group, Department of Child Services, court systems, community corrections, and state hospitals) and acts as the liaison between clients, care teams, referral sources, and administrative staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

+ Conduct client interviews via phone, collecting detailed demographic, insurance, and clinical information.

+ Document all interactions in EPIC using pre-built templates in a professional and timely manner.

+ Match clients to appropriate behavioral health providers based on service needs, insurance, and history.

+ Schedule initial assessments and arrange for interpreters when needed.

+ Review and research past services to ensure proper assessments are scheduled.

+ Manage and review referrals, verifying eligibility based on clinical recommendations, insurance, and geography.

+ Obtain and upload mental health assessments to Kids Track for DCS review.

+ Coordinate ongoing communication with DCS Family Case Managers.

+ Identify and assign Medicaid Rehab Option (MRO) benefit packages based on Level of Need (LON).

+ Assist with MRO updates and upload relevant documentation to the Indiana Medicaid website.

+ Support clinical teams in responding to LON denials.

+ Serves as the central point of contact for all referral sources, team members, and patients.

+ Consistently uphold Parkview’s Standards of Behavior and deliver service excellence in all interactions.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

+ High school diploma or GED required.

    Experience:

+ Minimum of two (2) years in hospital access, behavioral health navigation, or a related field.

+ Experience in mental health or substance-use treatment settings is preferred.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

    Other Requirements:

+ Must pass a Department of Child Services (DCS) background check.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to Federal and State regulations.
