    **Description** This is a part-time position in addition to normal project engineering duties within the Overhead Transmission department. This position is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of Assistant Level Engineers and Interns within the Overhead Transmission Department of the Transmission and Distribution Global Practice in the South Central Region. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by Overhead Transmission department management and senior management:

    + Advocate for safety within the business line and drive a culture focused on safety and compliance with company and site safety policies.

    + Recruit and retain candidates who align with MacCulture principles, department needs, growth strategies and business objectives while remaining diligent about combating unconscious bias throughout the interview process.

    + Develop transition plans as staff is promoted from assistant to staff and/or detailer to designer and work alongside respective department manager(s). Also, educate staff on various career paths offered within T&D.

    + Establish and proactively communicate to staff the vision, expectations, requirements, processes, and guidelines to meet departmental, global practice, and company objectives while keeping in mind individual desired career goals.

    + Advocate for staff by meeting regularly, listening to their short- and long-term goals and providing guidance, direction, and facilitation of opportunities to meet those goals.

    + Foster a culture of quality and innovation that challenges the norm and utilizes tools, technology, and processes to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.

    + Actively provide an environment of team cohesion, camaraderie, diversity and inclusion, equity and a sense of belonging.

    + Coordinate team and mentor assignments of department staff.

    + Identify the department's training needs and support/develop training programs with the department manager. Collaborate with other departments and offices on shared training opportunities.

    + Assist the Department Manager in developing business initiatives to improve profitability and/or Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Provide input into areas of concern and direction to enhance the achievement of productivity goals, budgets, and quality.

    + Assist with coordinating Burns & McDonnell Global staffing to achieve business line performance goals and present status reporting to the Department Manager.

    + Support Human Resources business partner(s) on educational partnerships and internship programs.

    + Review employee performance and conduct development meetings (90 day and annual performance appraisals, mid-year reviews, coaching sessions, etc.).  Implement effective performance improvement plans alongside Human Resources business partners for employee-owners in areas of improvement.

    + Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to staff.

    + Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

    + Travel to client and project sites as needed to meet with staff on long term field assignments and/or interactive with clients.

    + All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related degree from accredited program and 5 years related professional experience in design and/or project management is required.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + History of high performance as demonstrated in the Burns & McDonnell performance management system.

    + Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees and management.

    + Strong preference for the following:

    + Technical ability in transmission engineering and/or project related design

    + Registration as a professional engineer, or currently pursuing professional registration.

    + Burns & McDonnell recruiting experience.

    + Experience giving and receiving performance feedback for those they work with.

    + Familiarity with tools/technology such as Pivot Tables, Data Models, and other efficiency/data tracking tools.

    + Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence (mentor/train), lead and manage change.

     

    This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
