    Description:

    This position is to replace our intern with a Maintenace Mechanic 2 for a Rapid Responder to help align with one phone Number 24/7 one contact number. This position will

     

    Independently performs preventative and corrective maintenance work within assigned areas of responsibility.

     

    Frequently performs general repairs and determines need for replacement parts or supplies and orders as appropriate.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned by Plant Operations.

    Essential Functions

    • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines

     

    and documents results of activities performed to comply with accreditation and licensing standards.

     

    • Performs corrective maintenance procedures including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic,

     

    electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other sciences and document results of activities

     

    performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.

     

    • Helps develop and performs preventive maintenance procedures using manufactures' recommendations, standard

     

    or code requirements, as well as professional experience as guidelines.

     

    • Services hospital wide pneumatic tube system, services hospital wide medical gas system outlets.

    • Interact with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems to schedule and complete preventive

     

    maintenance procedures while minimizing interference to the operation of other departments.

     

    • Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.

    • Installs and maintains a wide variety of small items which can include such things as paper towels dispensers,

     

    bulletin boards, pictures, shelving units, carts and all types of furniture.

     

    • Assembles and maintains office furniture including disassembly for moves and alterations.

    • Performs welding repairs and does general machining which can include work on a lathe, drill press, and

     

    grinders.

     

    • Performs maintenance on all hospital lighting systems, which includes replacement of lamps, bulbs, ballasts,

     

    switches, and outlets.

     

    • Determines need for replacement parts and supplies, and orders as appropriate.

    • Completes Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous

     

    work done.

     

    • Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure patients or

     

    visitors will be left out.

     

    • Keeps hallways and pathways free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills.

    • Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision-making, working to

     

    accomplish team objectives and projects.

     

    • Solicits feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education

    Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.

     

    Preferred: Associate’s degree in a related field.

    Credentials/Licensure

     

    Minimum: N/A

     

    Preferred: Contractor or Trades license.

    Related Experience

    Minimum: Five years experience to include maintenance/mechanic responsibilities.

     

    Preferred: More than seven years experience to include maintenance/mechanic responsibilities.

    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field.

    • Ability to follow written instructions, performs tasks and documents actions taken.

    • Ability to understand the basics of electronics, steam, pressure, hydraulic, thermodynamics, and reading

     

    electrical and plumbing schematics.

    Computer Competency

    • Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows-based computer system,

     

    including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other

     

    software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Physical/Mental

    • Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sit, squat, stand, twist, and walk.

    • Possess ability to mentally concentrate while being subject to interruptions and changing work priorities.

    • Must be able to work, while wearing personal protective equipment, in areas prone to infectious disease, dust and

     

    inclement weather, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, radiation, fumes/vapors, sharp

     

    instruments/tools, hazardous liquids, and operating machinery.

     

    • Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors.

    • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual

     

    dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors.

     

    • Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds and on occasion up to 100 pounds.

    • Must be able to push or pull over 100 pounds
